I like moderately spicy food. I always accidentally add way too much sriracha or red pepper flakesto my recipes, but somehow it still almost always tastes perfect to me - it's a mystery. My family, on the other hand, often ends up diluting my curries or chilis so they can tolerate it... Oops.
That said, I ordered medium-spicy curry from my favorite Thai restaurant last week, and there were so many red pepper flakes that they were in big clumps. I literally couldn't feel my mouth. It was awful - I don't think I'd ever eaten anything so spicy in my life! It was only one notch up from my usual spice level (which is so mild it tastes like there's no spice at all), so all I can think is that maybe they made a mistake with my order or had a new chef or something.
But now I'm scared to ever try ordering anything medium again! Maybe I should only try spicy things when I'm the one cooking them...
At any rate, I like spice that adds flavor, but not if it only adds heat. I like the taste of extra chilies, hot sauce, spicy mustard, etc, but just adding a burning sensation for the sake of it doesn't appeal to me.
THIS! My husband is a saint for putting up with my sriracha breath and also tobasco addiction.
He calls it ?dragon sauce? and that I always have garlic breath after so he can tell. Haha I have been doing it for so long though my mom knows too. She asked my husband if he knew and they both commiserated about it!
i used to hate spicy foods but as i tried more and more of them i’ve really developed a taste and a love for them! i still don’t have a strong tolerance yet, but i can at least enjoy the burning and numbness!
I love spicy food, although I'm not particularly tolerant of it- it's not that I handle it well, I just find it thrilling enough that I eat it anyways.
Yes, I do like spicy foods. I used to have contests with my friends back in high school for eating things like jalapenos and they never bothered me. I do have a limit, though. I tried to eat a habanero pepper once and that wrecked me, but they're pretty hot.
I like adding spice for the flavor, but if it's too hot to taste or just bland and adds nothing but heat, then I don't care for it.
Depends of how spicy it is. Normally, I don't like spicy food that much, as I'm getting most of the
time heartburn shortly after I ate it. Because of this, I try to avoid spicy food.
I'll love spicy food. Recently an Indian friend of mine started teaching me how to make authentic, proper curries and I'm loving every minute of it. Slowly getting better at it as well.
I love spicy food and I can never really get enough of it. My husband made me a vegan madras curry a few nights ago, and I?ve been on a real peri-peri kick lately too,.
