This includes fanfictions too. My favorite fanfiction is still Rainbow Factory, and Pegasus Device (If you know you know )

But do you enjoy reading creepy, dark, disturbing stories?

I love reading horror, and writing it too. Alot of my stories involve horror, and freaky subject matter in some format.

I've read a few horror novels, I personally enjoy horror movies, or games. But writing it is my jam.

So, do you like to read it? If so what are some of your favorite titles, or/and do you like to write it?

I like reading horror, but I think horror movies are terribly boring. Horror translates to me better through writing than film. Maybe it's an imaginative thing and most horror movies like to shove gore in your face. Which I don't find scary. It's tedious to watch.

My favorite book is The Stand. I read the entire extended edition.

I like reading SCPs sometimes. I struggle with reading a lot so I prefer smaller-scale internet horror. Maybe even a creepypasta or two.

i haven't much read horror other than garth marenghi's books. i listened to the audiobook of terrortome and have a hardback copy of incarcerat, both are really hilarious ;w;

I do enjoy reading creepy/horror novels from time to time. I much prefer reading horror to watching it since I hate jump scares and don't like seeing gore. With books, I can visualize things as much or as little as I want. As a kid, I loved the Goosebumps books. As an adult, I've read several Stephen King books, and I've also read books that are compilations of short horror stories. I've read others, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. I'm very bad with titles and author names

i love reading horror fics! i used to read a lot of creepy pasta when I was young lol. also love tuning in to horror ARPG analysis videos, theyre really interesting for me that i play them in the background while im working or doing something else. my bf saw my watch later playlist on YT and asked why i had a lot of fictional horror videos saved 😭

i dont write them though, im not particularly good with that kind of genre. and i most especially hate playing them because 90% of them have jumpscares and i hate that because im really jumpy in general.

I'm a fan of horror. I like to consume horror media and literature. I enjoy reading horror, suspense, thriller, and mystery books. I like creepy videogames. I like watching creepy and strange videos too.

I used to love horror a lot but idk it's just really not my thing anymore, but not saying we still don't get good stuff every now and then.

I enjoy reading horrors, creepypastas and horror games lore summaries, but at the same time I can't stand it in any other kind of media. Written scares are the only enjoyable ones for me.

I really do wanna try and write creepy/horror. I think if I read more of it, learn it more I could write something to that aspect.
I've read more ghost type books in this aspect. But I do find it better imaging it more than watching.

Not much. Horror itself isn’t really my thing. I wrote a fantasy romance novel back in 2022 with the main protagonist was named Pearl. It’s always been my favorite girl name, and you can imagine my rage/fear when that stupid horror movie came out. I still see gifs of it all over my Twitter…! Can we just…move on!!

I have written some stuff that is creepier in tone, but I wouldn’t call it horror. Things like a cult in the woods, an old widow being uncomfortably thirsty in the 18th century, an Edwardian woman fending off a serial-killing maid, a boy being kidnapped by a water-elf with the promise of becoming king (my personal favorite.) Well, maybe the stories about the Aztec demigod, half-snake, half-woman Ticualtzincoatl could be considered horror. But not overly gory or anything like that.

Like all genres, horror can share an effective message about humanity, but the gross parts aren’t really for me.

Sometimes I like to read thrillers/mysteries, especially around this time of year! I find the genre to be tricky though as sometimes it feels like people think something has to be really gross to be scary. I don't want to read something really gruesome to be spooked. It just makes me feel icky and that isn't the vibe I'm going for.

I never really realized this before stumbling upon this thread, but yes I suppose I do. I don’t really read horror though I wouldn’t be opposed to it, but I’ve definitely read various stories with rather disturbing parts to them. I also read fanfiction from time to time and there’s really no limit to what kind of odd disturbing things you can find there haha.

Horror literature doesn't really creep me out at all. For a piece of media to creep me out I need audio that is unnerving. Even horror video games don't freak me out as long as I don't have the sound on. When I do read horror it's more for the suspense rather than to freak me out.

I wrote a horror short story once for a writing contest on another forum, but I'm not too happy with how it turned out. Horror isn't a genre I consume much, so I didn't really know how to replicate it. That's why I only really write sci-fi and realistic fiction now.

yes, i read lots of creepy literature! though, i can't trust myself with writing one. it wouldn't be scary at all lmao.

i used to be terrified of the rainbow factory when i was younger and this thread just made me remember it. i loved the song so much :D

Not really. I don't read much to begin with but when I do I'm more into mystery. I can appreciate some good psychological horror, the stuff that has you jumping at shadows for days, but most horror is too much gore for me. Books are a bit better with that tho because it is just words🫤

I've read a few horror books! Last I worked on was the House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski, but was a bit hefty and didn't want to commit at the time. Horror movies are my favourite genre though! Movies like Babadook, The Tunnel, Host, are some of my favourites at the top of my head. Found footage was my favourite type of subgenre of horror, but feels a little stale lately

I am not really a fan of creepy stuff so I don't like movies or literature really with this genre.

This may or may not be shocking, but I'm pretty sure I've read every zombie series in existence, whether it be horror, comedy, post-apocalyptical "people are the real danger!", short stories, whatever. 🧟‍♂️
