Pokémon Do You Name Your Pokemon? If So, Do You Settle for a Theme?

Idk, I just give them names that sound cool, like sometimes greek/roman gods that fit their types or characteristics.

Ho-Oh: Hephaestus
Dragonite: Thor
Mewtwo: Zephyr
Alteria: Athena
Salamence: Tiamatria (stolen from Marriland, huhuh)
Gyarados: Leviathan
Raikou: Euphrates
Blissey: Persephone
Shuckle: Loki
Flygon: Apollo
Shaymin: Ceres
Staraptor: Faunus

I get that Shiny Heatmor looks like a Pyro, but... He just won't cut it. Try Simisear.
But it wouldn't make sense! I just think Pyro would look more like an Anteater instead of a Monkey that can get 1 Hit KO'd easily :U

Just like how I could say Zoroark is Spy, lmao

Never a specific theme, I just name them stuff which might relate to them or just sound different.
But in Black 2 I did name my team after The Last Airbender characters :)

Its depends in some generations I did and some I didn't :)
In ORAS I did.
Swampert: Patrick
Gardevoir: Tinkerbell
Breloom: 1-Up
Skarmony: Link
Pikachu: Tails
Camelrupt: Mario

My theme was characters. 1-up was an exception though from Mario.

This is perfect. ;u;

I always name my team members ingame and my actual competetive pokemon.
Well some aren't bred by myself so they don't have a nickname, but I always give my own bred Pokemon a name.
Makes it a bit more personal.

One time I named my team after Ace Attorney characters. I name all the Pok?mon that I use and nickname when I'm breeding so it's easier to tell them apart.

I don't do a theme. I literally stare at the Pokemon and say to myself "what name suits you?" and then the first thing that pops in my head I use.

Like my Xerneas is named "Mystic Forest."
My Plusle is named "Rosa."
My Skitty is named "Skitton."

Like, no pattern, nothing man. I don't even know. Whatever goes, goes I guess.

I also have a Cottonee named CandyFloss, which is an alternate name for cotton candy.

Some future guys I want for Food!B2 are...

A Magby named Curry due to the typing and its association with spiciness.
A Basculin named Sushi if only for the main ingredient (besides rice and seaweed) that sushi is comprised of.
A Phanpy from an Egg spawned form Curtis's Phanpy named BunBun after the British belief that elephants like buns.

I usually name mine. If I plan to use them at least. I suppose technically my AS team is themed, because they're all named after Ace Attorney characters. I also have a Luxray called Mary.

if I named my pokemon all the names will be like real pet names or desserts/sweets like candy or sugarcake or something like that XD

Also, I have an Eevee line named after superheroes (and in one case, fantasy characters) who share the typing that particular Eeveelution has. But only in Alpha Sapphire. Here's the whole list:

A Vaporeon named Aqualad, Aquaman's son.
A Jolteon named Static Shock, who for some reason is black.
A Flareon named Azula, an aggressive Firebender.
An Espeon named Psycho Mantis, one of the bosses in Metal Gear Solid 2.
An Umbreon named Nightwing, who's essentially a future Robin.
A Leafeon named Groot, a living tree who's friends with Rocket Raccoon.
A Glaceon named Mr. Freeze, one of Batman's adversaries.
And a Sylveon named Ronnie for no reason.
