Personally I really like some of the in-game clothes, which I think the game has a pretty great selection of. Of course, custom is great too, but I personally am not that great at making clothes. More often I find that I'm excited to try on the Able sisters stuff, or even some of the weird crafted clothes. Sometimes I prefer custom clothes/patterns, but usually I find that I like to wear the game clothes.

I prefer actual in-game clothes. Some custom outfits are nice, but they seem flat and it’s not for me. I do have some custom hockey jerseys, though, which I find amazing. Those were for my villagers, though.

Custom Clothes that I made for myself personally. If you saw what my characters look liked in the thread titled "What does your Resident Representative look like" you'll see why. I don't care much about fashion and I don't really much care for any of the clothing in this game, because I am not someone who is like obsessed with clothes.

idk if I really have a preference for one over the other. My island rep does wear custom clothing with the Bolts jersey, but otherwise everything worn is in-game. There's a lot of good options with the in-game clothing, so it's not like it's really necessary to wear custom clothing unless you like making custom clothes or want something specific that isn't in-game.

I chose in-game clothes for the poll, but I’ve still spent a lot of time designing custom clothes too!

I don’t use designs from the custom design portal, but I make my own designs, and I really like making custom dresses in particular, because they can be really detailed! When (and if) I improve my custom design abilities, I’d probably choose custom design clothes. 😊

i actively wear both, but i would say i maybe have a slight preference for custom designs. this is only a new thing for me though because the winter clothes in-game generally suck. i was able to find a lot of cute cardigan dresses etc. to wear made by other people as well as some more summer-y ones. i still like a lot of the in-game clothes for the warmer weather though, especially the front-tied tee.

I've created custom patterns but I'd rather have my residents wear them. Most of my designs are basic though. The shape of the clothing is a double edged sword. While they make the clothing seem more realistic, I find the recreation of clothes I had in prior games difficult to do.

That being said, I've tried to develop four hats and four shirts to display for my villagers to wear that are based on my personal interests or on my town theme. For example I have both a tee and a sweater version that has Cthulhu on it. I just turned my flag into a clothing. I also created a sweater based on the one worn by the Spuddy Buddy mascot. It actually turned out better than its NL incarnation.

I find in-game clothes better for me because there is so much to work with.

i like both, but i definitely prefer wearing custom designs. i wear in-game hats, socks/tights, bags, etc, but i only wear custom tops/dresses. i haven’t been able to make a design that i actually like since my new leaf days, though (and that was only because i used a tutorial), so i have to use other people’s lol.

In-game clothes. I don't really like taking other people's designs and I certainly cannot make my own, lol.

I used to only wear the custom designs in New Leaf as towards the end of me playing it for so long I started to not like the clothes in game. But since I have been playing New Horizons I only wear the clothes in game cause I like the look of them more :)

Playing New Leaf, I mostly wore only one or two custom outfits and rarely changed. But with New Horizons and the improved graphics, everything looks better. There is also a good range of tops, bottoms and accessories to coordinate with. So I find myself enjoying outfit changes on an almost daily basis, something I've not done before playing the previous games. I'm not into cosplaying or themed fashion, so I'm happy with all the "everyday" types of outfits I can put together easily.

Exactly this for me too! Never was much of an outfit person in New Leaf but I actually enjoy throwing together a new outfit with whatever is in my closet!

I usually wear/wore in game clothes. There are some cute custom ones and using those does save inventory space but I like the way the in game clothes look. I think of custom clothes I simply like the sweaters and I made some winter ones myself for the terminal in 2020. And I will probably make some again though offline.

I have a whole variety of my favorite outfits of in-game clothes, so I wear those the most.
I have a few outfits that I will wear that are custom - mostly super awesome looking dresses that I found on Pinterest and saved. But that’s a lot rarer, I don’t do it very often.
It’s probably because most of my custom design slots are filled with path and ground patterns… so there isn’t actually a ton of room for me to save outfits.

i prefer the in game clothes, i have yet to find actual nice custom designed clothing but i haven’t really looked. maybe if i found one i’d like i’d wear it. here’s the outfit my representative has been wearing recently:
