Do you squish or kill bugs?

Cockroaches must die. I try to make it quick

I don't like killing huntsman spiders but my husband is a severe arachnophobe so I do it for him.. other spiders I kill too because this is Australia and I do not know which ones are/aren't venomous

I think its very sweet though seeing how many people here refuse to kill invading insects!

I mostly just pick them up and throw them outside. Even wasps I allow to leave via the window for the most part, as long as they don't try no funny business. I'm pretty good to bugs as a whole.

Apart from large spiders that I smack with hard objects, and hornets that I blast with fire.
Cockroaches aren't very common in London, or the uk as a whole I think. I've never even seen a live one in London.
If I did, I would probably set it on fire.

This is the first mention here of hornets. At our old house, they would aggressively beat on our windows.

Horrifying creatures. They make me shudder.

i absolutely HATE BUGS. i am not touching them, i will throw the nearest object at them.

Yeah they're awful and thankfully pretty rare here. I only remember having to blast them with fire myself twice and it was over a particularly hot summer when there seemed to be a surge.

I'm not confident enough to rule out reincarnation, so I don't kill anything. Generally if I can catch someone in time before they kill an insect I'll bring it outside...or in the case of spiders release them underneath a cupboard.

It really depends on the bug for me, because if they're harmful in any way then yes I will kill them, but if they're just out doing their thing I'd rather catch and release.

Things like mosquitos, wasps, etc I will kill. We also have a lot of assassin bugs around here, and I will 100% kill them. But if it's just some spider/moth/bee/etc that accidentally got into the house, or is just minding its own business, I'll leave them alone or try to let them back outside.

I do kill mosquitos, but only really if they land on me. They can be dangerous and I might be somewhat allergic to them. I've also killed my fair share of ants and wasps that invade my space of course.

Harmless, stray little buggos who have somehow found their way inside the house I take them back outside to release them safely, such as fireflies, moths, ladybugs and itsy bitsy spiders. I typically use a sheet of paper and a plastic cup to catch them.

But flies and mosquitos... I cold-bloodedly annihilate those disease-ridden, annoying buzzing little ******** any which way possible. I spray 'em with stuff like Windex and Lysol, just any cleaning product I can manage to get my hands on. Or I swat 'em down with an old rag, then proceed to squish the ever living heck out of 'em, haha I'm too cowardly, however, to approach bees and wasps lol

Big roaches mean big squishes you can hear and feel, and that makes me very squeamish.

I won’t go through the trouble of picking up a bug and taking it outside unless it’s something like a bumblebee or ladybug who I can open the door for and they’ll figure it out

I kill mosquitoes and flies, I’ll leave ants alone unless they get in my space, I would kill spiders if I was brave enough, but I’m terrified of them so I let my parents deal with them (though spiders are something my parents try to avoid killing so they’ll take them outside), also scared of wasps but they rarely get in the house

I don’t like bugs at all so I try my best to stay far far away from them or have someone else deal with it how they see fit, but if they happen to land on any part of my body or my belongings I will instinctively slap or swat it away while screaming. It’s almost like a reflex I can’t control.

i only let bees, moths, and small spiders outside. i don't care about wasps or hornets enough to escort them back outside.

My green house is currently infested with Asian lady beetles, at first I was looking for a solution to get rid of them because I thought they were invasive or something. I attempted to look them up and found a bunch of conflicting statements and misinformation. I think they were introduced to the environment by California agriculture to control pest insects and now possibly out compete "native" ladybugs.
At this point I'm not sure I even mind them, they don't eat my plants and as long as they stay confined to that room they don't bother me.
I make a point to let spiders and insects outside rather than killing them, as a general rule of thumb I think it's best not to kill things just because you don't understand them.
That's really cool. I always wanted to have a greenhouse, but I never really looked into how costly it would be and if it would really be a good investment with how my state easily gets into 0 and below during winter. What kind of stuff do you grow?

The greenhouse room was one of my favorite things about this house when we first saw it! I have mostly house plants, I currently have a pitcher plant in a terrarium, lots of spider plants, a peace lilly, dragon tree stuff like that.

If possible, I have my mom kill it for me. But otherwise, I flush it down the toilet. just thinking of squishing it and the sound makes me feel all grossed out (and just the mention of bugs 😭).My kitties aren’t any help. they just stare at it. But I honestly don’t want them to even touch the bug, though sometimes I tell Jewels she has my permission to “get rid of it” 😅😸.

I can’t bring myself to do it, even though I hate insects with a burning passion. I usually opt for a cup and a paper and place them outside. I just can’t deal with a smashed bug corpse UGH disgusting.

The only exception from this rule are mosquitoes and pests on my houseplants like aphids or thrips. No mercy for those, because they harm my beloved plant children.

The only insects I will tolerate to be around are spiders (as long as they are not too big). I see them as allies in the house plant pest and mosquito battle so usually I let them stay the winter and move them outside when the temperatures are safe for them so they can get some food.

Yeah it really depends. The problem with releasing some things is also that some are designed to live indoors and are going to suffer more outdoors.

With that said I’m really not scared of spiders, if I had to kill them I’d feel pretty crap.

To really answer the question if it’s something I know chills indoors I might actually let it stay but if I’m uncomfortable or it actually looks dangerous… I’ll release it but I’ll still have doubt.

Exceptions though: silverfish because they multiply so fast and are too much of a pain in the ass (they get squashed), and mosquitoes, and I would probably squish flies if they came indoors here. And wasps, I’d sac em if they became a problem, bees are cool and would get released tho.

Realistically I think spiders have stopped most of these from being a problem indoors… I’ve definitely seen flies caught by them. And their spiderwebs stay out of the way, and most of the indoors ones are just harmless daddy longlegs so nothing to worry about for me.

Ants are in a sad spot, I don’t want to hurt them but if they get indoors they’re impossible to release and I gotta get rid of them.
