As the largest(?) home for Animal Crossing discussion on the internet for 20 or more years, do you think Nintendo has ever come to TBT looking for ideas or feedback? Or even a potential undercover member who works for Nintendo is among us here?
Maybe a worker or two lurks before presenting ideas to their team. I don't see Nintendo as a company coming here for feedback though. They probably get a lot of emails from people as it is, and then whatever comments on their social media pages. And they like looking at sales numbers..
Has any Nintendo employee ever become aware of the existence of this forum for even a moment? Probably. Do they actually read the posts here and take them into consideration when designing new products? To me that seems extremely unlikely.
As successful as TBT is compared to other online forums, the numbers here are still a tiny, tiny fraction of the overall player base. Our desires may even, at times, run counter to those of “mainstream” players—whose money Nintendo wants just as much as the money of long term fans.
At most, I think this forum communicates that there is still a dedicated core base of AC fans who will continue to market the game and create content for/about it between releases, which (combined with other fan spaces) may nudge Nintendo away from decisions that would alienate longtime AC players. Maybe?
Even that feels like a stretch to me—I feel like they’re going to do what they want, haha. But I’d love to be wrong!
Probably not aside from lurking, and like an above poster said, I doubt they take ANY of our ideas into consideration, or at least they don't take them from here specifically. I have a ton of friends who play AC, but don't even use this forum, so I can attest to the fact that TBT as a whole is still a miniscule portion of the overall playerbase, lol.
Nintendo themselves as a company? No. The userbase is so large though I wouldn’t be surprised if there were any Nintendo empoyees who use it in their free time
Some famous people lurk on forums that related to what they are well known for and sometimes comment on threads. The original voice actress of Meowth was a member on a Pokémon forum i used to frequent often before she died. She talked about working on the anime.
Forums are very niche nowadays, as sad as it sounds. They probably take more attention to social media to get a more general opinion from a bigher public
like some have said, i feel nintendo directs more of their attention towards social media, notably reddit, twitter, or popular instagram posts.
i’m sure they’ve passed by a search result of us; if they’ve searched something and we have a thread with those key words they may take a look. otherwise, i doubt they frequent the forums.
I would like to think that but a giant corporation will do what giant corporations do: data analytics. I think individuals that work at Nintendo might view the forums but I don't expect the people that make decisions to take seriously forums made by fans. They think of us as "consumers" and not "fans" anyway.
