Tbh I'm amazed that so many folks expect other people to work for free.

Like...do you? Do you do your job for free?

Just because a game may not have DLC does not mean the devs and workers are not getting paid. They make money for making the game and the sales off the game. Most likely they will not even see any of the money made from DLC as Nintendo will take it all. The people also will get money from the Animal Crossing anew Horiozns Brand, such as Merch and toys, so I don?t understand why you think they don?t get paid if DLC is not in the game.

I was referring to the people who want DLC but it better be free. Not sure why work on DLC should go unpaid.

I really wouldn't mind paying for DLC if it was something worth it. I'm sure the game will be filled with lots of new features and details but it would be nice for Nintendo to update it every once in a while.

because animal crossing has done tons of unpaid DLC in the past. see here. in new leaf every now and then you could talk to pelly and get free DLC items. it isnt unreasonable to expect free DLC incorporation again.

I say no because I want Animal Crossing if it had any DLC to be free unlike other games' DLC (like the 2016 update!). I don't want this game to be filled with pop-ups and stuff like that but instead it be filled with a fun, relaxing experience.

I have this bad feeling that might make us pay for rare sets or something like that. I honestly don't want them to get greedy like that. The game has been going strong without microtransactions.

Bottom line is, I don't want them to make dlc for a game that doesn't need it.

I really don't mind paid DLC if they aren't loot boxes. If I know what I'm buying, and it's reasonably priced, I have no issue spending a little extra for fun extra perks, items, outfits, .. I'd also pay for extra functionalities like extra towns, etcetera.

I also like DLC that comes as an added perk of buying something. Like for example if Starbucks would collab with Animal Crossing, you could link those purchases to in-game Starbucks items.

Just nothing randomised that you can't control.. But as the game is releasing in Belgium I don't think there'll be anything loot box-y in the game though!

I'd appreciate DLC after a certain amount of time. If they add a bunch of new features after - let's say... - one or two years, and charge me 15$ for that, I really wouldn't mind at all.

I also wouldn't really mind if they add Sims-like Add-ons once in a while. Like a witchy-halloweeny Add-on with a bunch of new furniture, villagers, clothing and accessoires. Those definitely shouldn't be a monthly thing and they shouldn't be too costy as well. I'd pay 5$ or something 2-3 times a year for something like that (that would be around the same price range as the Mario Kart DLC which was totally worth it).

I'd hate if they would release new item sets too frequently like in Pocket Camp. I'm a collector and completing the catalogue is always one of my goals. Therefore, I don't want a "subscription model" charging me on a weekly basis to be able to do that.

It depends on what the DLC is and how much there is.

If they release hundreds of paid DLC furniture, and clothing, I won't be happy about that.

If they release a few items ( furniture, and clothing, etc) in the game's life time that are paid DLC, that will be fine.

If they release DLC that adds extra functionality to the game, that will be fine.

Also, since they disabled cloud saves to stop people from duplicating items, we can almost assume there will be some paid DLC items.

Of course I would prefer not to have paid DLC. I hope ACNH continues with the trend of amiibo cards and figures being their "paid DLC" and no actual expansions to gameplay that will need a paid DLC. Even when merch and cards for the amiibo update came out, as well as previous amiibo, I didn't actually start collecting them until way later because I could easily obtain these items by trading. I caved and ended up buying them later on just to own them, but it wasn't a necessary purchase to enjoy the game. I'd like for furniture and items to continue to be free DLC, maybe even roll out new furniture sets with updates/patches(?) like they do in some other games. Honestly though, I'd probably buy any kind of DLC for this game, especially if it's something that's unique or not tradable or a big expansion to the game. I wont be happy about it, but I like the series too much that I'd definitely be swayed lol.i also think with the direction Nintendo is going it’s likely we’re gonna see paid DLC anyways

I actually thought I'd posted in this thread!

The ideal DLC for me would be promotional and collaborative.
I love getting free DLC but if there were the odd - and I mean extremely occasional paid DLC that doesn't break the bank or isn't a monthly paid event, because some games can be really brutal with making things difficult to force you to part with your money if you really want something (not literally force you) but you won't get \\\☆/// if you don't ?$?€
So if it's once a year or a couple of times a year paid DLC, that's fine. But I think DLC should be a way to promote future games and cute clothing/toys etc from companies. That way imo, it's win win ٩꒰ʘʚʘ๑꒱۶

I voted no.
I paid for the full game, and that's what I expect.

If they add anything more, it should be covered by the initial money I paid for the game, in my opinion anyway.

Yes and no. Yes, because after a long time, like a few years, the game can get a little bit stale once you have done everything and because they have already done DLC in the past with New Leaf, so I'm sure they will do it again. No, because I would much prefer if Nintendo releases the game in full and they don't have to have a need to add more stuff to it. I would like to buy the game as is, fully done and completed.

To be honest, I'm kinda torn between having it or not. It would be nice to see new content, but like I said, I want the game to be fully complete and not to have to buy anything else to add on. :/
