Does anybody else LIKE the fact that the villagers are nicer in New Leaf?

When I first heard all this talk about the villagers being "too nice" I was quite worried and I saw a lot of people were upset about it but actually I really like it now. :lemon:

It gives the game a much 'warmer' feel and makes for better escapism IMO... you know, there's enough a******** and rude people in the real world sometimes, it's actually really nice to escape in to my Animal Crossing world where everyone's lovely when real life gets too much! ;)

:) I like it but at the same time I feel like they are TOO nice :/ like with cranky villagers in wild world they usually got mad at me if I said something wrong :( I actually liked them a bit mean :( now they seem like push-overs a bit :c

Naw, they sort of blend into one bland sappy mass this way. If you had to actually earn their friendship it would be more rewarding, too. I still can't believe that some people still don't like the Snooty and Cranky types. They are exceedingly sweet.

I've never played any other AC game, but I like that the villagers are nice. That way nobody is rude to me after I had a rotten day at work. And I love that the peppy villagers are super extra cheerful for that reason as well. It makes me happy!

i kinda miss the old crankies, but they're still just fine in NL :3

if anything, they seem to be more TSUNDERE than cranky..
at least fang is quite tsundere sounding!

No, part of the fun was that crankys were somewhat mean and distant but now they just seem like hesitant pushovers.

I wish that they said meaner stuff, tbh. It'd give the dialogue some variety.

Yes, Peppy type is hilarious! I love Bluebear so much. :D

I agree with this completely. They all just kind of blend into one. The only difference is that their voices are different. I loooved Population Growing because there was one villager that would constantly insult me. I can understand the argument that there are enough meanies in the world, but on the other hand, I had 14 other villagers I could run to in Population Growing if I wanted to escape the "mean". It's not like I HAD to talk to Valise, but as much as I hated her, I liked what she brought to the table. She gave me a reason to not like her.

Now, everyone is so nice. You do something mean and they're "disappointed in you". They guilt you, and I don't like that. It comes across as phony to me, but maybe I just like drama.

I only played WW (I was like 6 when it came out)
Apparently my friend was crying cuz the snooties were so mean :P
I don't really remember anything though ^^

Cranky villagers have always been my favorite since... well, since the AC games came out (wow, that's almost what, ten years ago) and I'm kind of disappointed. I love the fact that they're super sweet but the fact that it's so easy to earn their friendship is bleh. I liked seeing the transition from crankiness to becoming the sweetest villagers in the world. I don't mind how nice they are, because you have to work pretty hard to earn their pictures anyways, I wish there was more of a distinction between the personalities. The dialogue may be different but they all treat you the same way.

No i dont like it :(
i liked in GC them calling me stupid or a jerk etc, it made me actually invested more into relationships as it was so nice to see a snooty/cranky warm up to you etc

For me, the snooties are way too nice. :c

Really?;o

I went to someone's town and I spoke to Tiffany (I think that was her name) and she called me ugly... It was the first time I'd spoken to her LOL

I love that the villagers are so nice. I've been shocked by the rude things they've said in the past. xD

Think about it...it's a children's game. The gamemakers simply can't make a kids game about cute pink squirrels that call you ugly, or call you a jerk. Heck, if you were a 6 year old, a simple word like "stupid" could be somewhat startling, especially if it's coming from a tiny purple duck.

People in the real world tend to be so mean; I love getting into AC and having villagers really listen and talk to me.

(wow, that sounded so desperate. it's a video game. *facepalm*)

edit; Oh lord, don't even get me STARTED on Resetti. He was absolutely terrifying in CF. xD I'm glad little kids cried at him and they severely toned him down in NL!

I would prefer it if they were outright mean to you at first. It would really feel like an accomplishment to make a friendship. In New Leaf, every villager is practically your best friend after three conversations.

When you get stung by a bee they mistake you for a monster just because your eye is covered and the other one is half-closed, lololo

This inspired me to turn my GC game on again.
