If I'm doing a trade or giving away villagers, preferably it's easier if it's just me and the person I'm trading with (which is why I try to close my gates after the trader comes in). But if someone does end up stopping by, it's not really worth fussing about.
I'm confused as to why it seems that some people expect others to know if they're trading or not? What if someone is not on your BF list? They can't message you beforehand to ask.
Exactly what I was thinking! I mean, yeah, we might be able to time travel in these games, but we can't read minds. XD All the people who have a problem with this just need to remember to close their gates, or kick people out if they don't listen when they ask them to leave. It's not inherently a rude or terrible thing to go to someone's town when they have their gates open.
imo, having your gates open means you are giving people permission to come to your town unannounced.
If you don't like strangers in your town, delete them from your list after trading with them or whatever.
If you don't want them coming to your town then delete them after you've traded with them. Or set it to best friends only. You can't really blame them if you're gate is open :/
It happened once before, and the thing that sucks is that I have so many people I've added for the game that there's no way I could guess who it was x.x Since it happened though I keep the people I interact with most on my BF list and for the rest I now make it a habit to close the gate as soon as they arrive.
I don't do trades, nor do I have a lot of people on my friends list who are consistently online for this to be a problem. I suppose I can see why someone would find it annoying, though.
I'm sorry you had this happen to you! I'm definitely going to be careful with who I add, especially during trading/villager pickups. If they seem like I can trust them enough, I'll probably end up keeping them on my Friends List.
