I'm starting to work on my house, with 3 rooms decorated - I'm kind of torn between wanting a theme that links all the rooms (right now I'm thinking flowers), or just have each room have its own separate theme.
My kitchen has a sunflower theme, and I'm planning for the main/living room to be a greenhouse-like room, so I thought it would be cute for each of the other rooms to represent a different color of flower. My bathroom is Zodiac-themed though, so I may have to redo that a bit.
How about you guys? Are all the rooms very different in style and theme, or do you like to keep a cohesive style for every room in your house?
I prefer each room to have it’s own theme, I keep my bedroom on the second floor and it’s mostly brown Antique furniture, and Den furniture. The right room is my guest room and I made it all brown Imperial furniture with some cherry blossom plants, parquet flooring, and other Zen like stuff like a Tea Table. My basement is a game room with all the pinball machines, arcade machines, and a Jukebox. Aside from that, my living room, bathroom (left room), and kitchen (upper room) don’t have themes yet, but I’m working on it!
Pretty pleased with those themed rooms the most! The living room, and Kitchen are my main projects at the moment.
i don't actually have a proper theme for my house yet, it's just furniture i like randomly placed lol
like my main room is all pink items and there's alot of sanrio related stuff in it, then my basement is stuff related to my own personality
but the rest of the house is just kind of there haha
however, i will be redecorating my house in exactly 1 week when the sanrio furniture is finally released so i will have a sanrio themed house just like i did in NL
My kitchen and living room have a somewhat matching color scheme. I used warm tones, yellows, oranges, and wood. For the bathroom I went all white. Idk why but I love bright white bathrooms. My back room is my laundry room and it’s dark wood and green. Upstairs is my bedroom. It’s white wood furniture and pink accents but that will most likely change. I’m thinking of maybe doing green and white as a color scheme when the keroppi rug is released. Then lastly is the room that doesn’t match anything and that’s my basement. It’s an arcade because I didn’t know what else to do lol
My PLAN is to later make it look like a little cozy shack like house. I plan on blocking off two rooms to be " mysterious other places" to chill at for warp pipes. My back room I have designed like a porch. The only other plans I have is the entrance being a cozy living room area, or maybe a cozy kitchen living room hybrid. I haven't decided. And my basement has no plans other than possibly being a kitchen if I make the entrance room a living room only. Upstairs will be a bedroom. I wish we could block off the basement and/or upstairs.
I have four houses that correspond to the four seasons. These houses are actually hotels and part of a grand, luxury resort, so they are set up in a way to reflect that. Each of the houses has a main lobby and two regular bedrooms on the right and left. Some have luxury suites on the top floor. However, some hotels offer different services than others. The summer hotel offers outdoor sport like fishing, surfing and diving. The spring hotel is a spa and the winter hotel has a casino. Some of them share services as well. The summer hotel has the wedding chapel, but the banquet hall is in the spring hotel. As time goes on, each hotel will get new services or furniture and I may have to create new ones to accommodate everything. So for example, a separate house as a chapel+event hall so I can cram more themes into my seasonal hotels. So, yes, every house has a theme but different in its own way.
Each room has its own theme, and most of the themes are common ones (kitchen, bathroom, game room, etc). I prefer it this way as it’s easier to change a room to a different theme without messing up the overall theme of the house.
It's really nice reading about how everyone has decorated their homes, its been a while since I've done some dreaming in the game but think I'm going to recheck the address thread to see if I can visit some of these lovely sounding homes
I have one island home which I did some redecorating in earlier today that has two living areas (main room and basement), two bedrooms (upstairs and back room) and one kitchen and a bathroom in the two side rooms. Each room has its own individual theme that is either based around a furniture set or is designed around the wallpaper that I'm using in the room though the house as a whole doesn't follow a cohesive theme and all the rooms look quite different from each other.
From previously visiting dream addresses to view some great islands a particular favourite of mine is @annex's (shared on the dream dress thread) who has some really nicely themed rooms throughout the island homes, all of which are very well decorated
I have very themes. The bedroom is very classy yet dreamy, while the kitchen is very bright and modern! The basement is also very regal, but the bathroom is very Eastern-inspired. The gaming room is much more comfy-feeling, while the art room is a tad crowded and messy with a lot of visual stimuli, while also having a more polished look about it
I would find it too hard to just stick to one theme, everything in the game looks so cool, so I try my best to give off different vibes
I don’t have any kind of running theme. I just tend to decorate whenever I get inspiration. My main room is just a kind of normal cosy lounge. I have a stylish bathroom with whirlpool and walk in shower as that’s the kind of bathroom I dream of. I have a zodiac inspired room as I love Julians house so just tried my best to copy the style. I also have a relaxing zen inspired room.
My favourite room is my upstairs kitchen diner. My basement is an underwater mermaid inspired room. Very mixed up with really no focus but it’s home
I really don't have a theme lol, I just have each room as a regular room of the house. reading through some ideas on here I kind of wish I'd gone for themed rooms, so considering I haven't touched my house in months and months maybe it's finally time to get some cohesion and redecorate...
Each room has its own theme. Main room is the gold/throne room for all the fancy stuff, backroom is my dream chill-ax bedroom, second floor is a sakura-themed living room-ish place, right room is the egg-themed room since there was a weird focus on Easter in early NH lifetime, left room is mermaid/aquatic and the basement...
...Well, I wanted the basement to be, like, zodiac/star-themed but, to be honest, I haven't found a set-up that really works for me. I may just forget that idea and go for, like, a Nintendo-themed basement since the Mario items are out :/
My house is a Victorian-style mansion ... It has an entrance hall, study, music room, dining room, bedroom/bathroom upstairs and scullery downstairs ... Being a mansion, it's all very fancy !!
Different rooms. I like nature looking items but it clashes with the dark/punk/goth things I love and I also like art so I have an art studio in the basement. The bedroom is dark and the bathroom is nature. I have a kitchen but I cant decide on the flooring. I'm still working on my library and idk about the other room right now.
Each room in my house is heavily themed and some of them are sort of connected? It’s like a heavily themed functional house wait let me explain
Main room is a functional living room but it’s heavily nautical themed, with ship themed items, shell furniture and anchor custom patterns on my furniture. My right room is a ship’s deck and fish themed but it’s also a kitchen with ironwood and my upstairs room is a cozy dark mermaid bedroom ensuite (I toned down the pink with brown furniture and brown wallpaper and floor) so those are the ocean themes in my house.
Then I also have two Japanese rooms, my back room which is a cherry blossom garden (I like to think the big door leads to my back yard/courtyard) and my left room which is a tea room. My basement is very fancy, brown and red with dark green plants, it’s a cosy study with a music room.
So it’s like... functional but a bit over the top and a little weird
i built my house around the same theming as the rest of my island, which is late 70's retro vibes with a color palette based in vibrant earth tones. but each of the rooms have their own function and identity.
it's fairly standard in that it has a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living area. But there is also a pottery studio in the attic and an underground farm in the basement, which are some of my favorite rooms in the house.
i really enjoy the unified look of having my whole island be centered around a set of colors and dedicated theme, house included. it was really fun to try and cultivate variety within those parameters.
