It's cool to hear how people are decorating.

Curious to know - do you change rooms up at all, or do you keep it the same, once you get it decorated? I have 2 rooms that I won't touch, at least for now. I love my stillroom and my basement. The other rooms keep a similar layout, but I do change the color scheme up each season. Even though the furniture stays in the same spot, customizing kitchen things (I use a lot of the ironwood) can make a big difference, when you pair it with new wall, floor, rug, and accessories. Three months seems to be about when I want to freshen things up again.

Jerry (main character)
Main: living room
Right: office
Left: bathroom/laundry
Back: kitchen
Upstairs: bedroom
Basement: arcade

Augie (alternate character)
Main: diner/arcade
Right: bathroom (more like a spa, it only has a whirlpool bath, a lot of plants and some poolside chairs. It doesn't have a sink or toilet like Jerry's bathroom)
Left: home gym
Back: sort of like a karaoke lounge (really not sure what to do with this room tbh)
Upstairs: bedroom with mini bar
Basement: garage

My rooms mostly stay the same for the most part. The most I've changed is swapping out different color variants of furniture (example, swapping out the white fireplace for a dark brown one once I was able to find it). I am thinking of switching up the kitchen, it's looking a little cramped. I still have a lot of the Thanksgiving stuff out, and it takes up a lot of space.

I like using sets of furniture in each room except the main one. The big one is a living room, and the rest usually end up looking like bedrooms. I tried changing it up in New Horizons and I have a little office but it will probably end up being changed lol.

Main character- no
Side characters- yes

My main character just has cute rooms that kind of go together, maybe (the colors are often similar, but mostly 'cause I focused on color schemes I really like), but overall it's just like a regular house- no real theme, just nicely and comfortably decorated. I need to remodel my main room, though, since it's still using the snowy wall (or whatever it's called, too tired to check RN, lol). I'm planning on trading for/buying the Hello Kitty furniture as soon as it's released- I figure it'll be cute for "Cat" to have a kitty-themed main room! But the main room for her changes, and then I've got a zodiac bath, an apple kitchen, a bug-themed sunroom (with the butterfly wall and stuff), an attic library, and a basement rec room based partially on my grandparent's old basement (comfy but kind of kitschy, with linoleum floor and a diner style table/chairs) but also that serves as my in-house workshop, TV room, and laundry area. If Nintendo ever releases vintage consoles, I'll definitely put it in the basement- my grandparents had an original Nintendo and I still remember blowing in those cartridges! Even though the basement isn't as fancy as my other rooms, it's probably my favorite room just because it makes me feel nostalgic ☺

But, my side characters, whose homes don't really change, do kind of have themes. Doug has a sporty/video game themed house (will be getting his Mario room set up soon), Bunny's house is bright and playful and cute (and the attic is Bunny Day themed year round 'cause... well, duh). The other two are more obviously themed- Marlin's house has a beach theme, with tropical, island, and even a pirate themed room. Raven's is a haunted house/witch's house with creepy decor and a basement built for Halloween parties!

My house has a cohesive theme: classic Antony *ba dum psh*

At first, I tried having a "standard" house, the kitchen/bedroom/bathroom/etc thing and I wasn't really feeling it. I realized I prefered other furniture and so, I decided to decorate with a "seasonal" theme. The main and side rooms have my most liked furniture items from each seasonal set and the seasonal items, so it's a paradise of maple leaf/Halloween/ornament/New Year/Superbowl/etc. It works well together and I like it.

The upper room and basement don't follow the seasonal but they do follow the "collection of items I like". The basement has many toys such as the bears, paper tiger, pinball, etc. This one will probably get replaced as I'm making a dedicated toy room at Harvey's and it will overlap a little. The upper has furniture from the log set, star series, screens, the tulip surprise box, etc; so once again, things I liked.

The back room is the special room that houses the memories I've made. It has the posters and photos of my neighbors, the items I have received from my mom and DAL, the trophies I have earned and is completed with some other items like mobiles or plants.

That's why I think that even though for many people my house is random things everywhere, for me it's a collection of all the items I like and the great memories of getting them- making it "cohesive".

I honestly haven't even put much thought or effort into decorating the interior of my house, but I imagine when I finally start, I want to have different themes for each room!

The way I have it set up now is,
Main Room: Living Room
Right Room: Bathroom
Left Room: Kitchen
Backroom: Bedroom
Upstairs: Office/ Living room part 2
Downstairs: Party room (music, lights, etc.)

However, I think as I collect more items I may want to go for more themed rooms once I have some cohesive items. Probably for the upstairs and downstairs, I imagine the main floor rooms will stay the same format.

The drawback of the NH house is that although it has the same number of rooms, the side rooms are 6x6 unlike New Leaf's 8x8. It'd be nice if they were all 10x10 like the main room.

Main room has all the snowman items plus a few goodies like the crowns. Left room is a kitchen/dining room full of the Mom furniture items, back room has all the antique furniture. I just made the right room a game room. Top floor has all my villager posters, Nook Mile items plus the DAL items. I am cultivating the basement to house all the Zodiac items. I think I will set up my DIY workbench in the game room.
