Events & Collectibles General Discussion

Seeing as how the birthstone collectibles are a mainstay, and the fact that I own them all the moment they first released, I don’t understand why I don’t just buy them again so I can sell them to others when they need the exact date for it.
It happens way too often than I would expect.

Some people care for exact dates and not just months. For instance, what if one user wants to honor their mother’s birthday by getting a birthstone with her birthday as the purchase time? To them, specific dates matter.

those are very extreme cases. I think in general a lot of people are just looking for years; say, a February birthstone from 2021. in that case, what he's suggesting would actually be a decent idea.

why does the regular rainbow balloon say that three items were sold? is that how many gradient mystery balloons were purchased that eventually turned into rainbow balloons?

I'm thinking staff bought balloons, because that's way under the total I vaguely remember when adding in the other rainbow balloon variants listed sales as well

and/or maybe something to do with raffle winnings (though seems a stretch when we know winning prizes can be just spawned in without affecting the sold items total)

Not that it’s a bad thing to give several users awards during a single event, but to me, that eventually ruins the appeal of the new award collectibles.
kinda just saw this now so i wanted to chime in, but i like the idea of more people having a reward. there’s pretty much no downside to the people who’ve already had the reward, because it’s not like it’s gonna be taken from them or anything. it’s just nice to see people excited receiving a reward for something.

that being said, i’m also an advocate for more collectible accessibility in the future! i dont mind more people having a certain kind of ‘rare’ collectible at this point, and i really wanna help people achieve their collectible goals. it’s fun to see what new lineups people can make!

I will say this though. Whether we should only give 30 users or 60 users animated collectibles from the same event, it isn’t worth complaining about how the winners from two or more events are the same people. In fact, it’s more honorable if one can net staff favorites in every event. Reason why some get more awards than others is like why some people get better grades or why some people make more money in real life. They have a natural artistic ability, and these kinds of contests are art contests. Now if they do get more than one staff favorite from the same event, I agree that more users should have a chance. I like how the staff did staff favorites from the Farewell to New Leaf event and last year’s Lunar New Year event, where it’s only one staff favorite per user in the same event.

My issue is that the staff gave out way too many galaxy cupcakes last year.
my brain is like not fully processing rn LOL but anyway I personally have no issues with more winners in general, award collectibles are still award collectibles and the fact that you can't get it anywhere other than events (or raffles) already says a lot about its rarity. I'm not really one to rank the animated/award collectibles by how many were distributed; a badge of honor is a badge of honor!

Did the blue toy cars end up getting distributed over the weekend? I didn’t see any mention of it anywhere but I’ve also been really busy.

I can’t wait for the next Bell Tree Direct to occur. I want to see what’s in store for this year.

In the past, they used to be even more exciting since that meant it was restock time. But since chocolate cakes were no longer as valuable, I don’t expect to see restocks anymore.
