I never liked using facebook. After a while it gets boring. I don't plan to ever revisit.

I have one and log in frequently. People I know do have other social media apps like Instagram but Facebook is the one EVERYBODY has. Even if they don't have Facebook, they still have the messenger for it.
I mostly really use it for scrolling through memes or pages of artists I like, I use the messenger most frequently since it's useful given everybody I know has it. I don't think I've actually posted anything on Facebook since like...I dunno, possibly ever. Everything on my timeline are things other people have tagged me in.
It's also useful for local gigs and self promotion, not the best, but useful, again, especially because of how many people use it. Given I'm a musician, I find this an almost mandatory aspect due to how much it would set me back not to use it. There's many technically better sites than Facebook and dedicated apps specifically for self promotion of [example] your band, but the one everybody uses is usually going to be far superior to the ones that are technically better or more focused, at least when it comes to music. Even specific things like Soundcloud or Bandcamp, most traffic comes form links on Facebook...Kind of like how Myspace was THE website for promoting your 'thing', until Facebook became the most popular form of social media. Nobody is using Myspace anymore.
It's not the best platform available and is more a 'Jack of all trades' type thing but as I've said already, the amount of people who do use it on a regular basis makes it one of the more valuable forms of social media for many more things outside of just telling people you're upset because you burnt your sandwich...I will never understand people who are constantly on it though.

I used to use it when my father was alive as a means of keeping in touch with him and sharing photos of his grandchildren with him. After he passed, I tried to keep using it for a while, but eventually realized I didn't much like most of the people that had "friended" me, and that Facebook on the whole did more bad than good for my mental health. Once I realized that, I checked out, deleted my account and haven't looked back or missed it a bit.
I do at times however find it annoyong how many things are tied into it that I can't easily access without an account. Like some businesses, such as a dog groomer I had hoped to schedule with. I just write these encounters off as not meant to be and move along.

Yeah I don't trust people having that as their only source of thing just because they think "everyone" has it or wants it. As I said I have insta to follow some people but they more or less have actual pages for their stuff if you want stuff.
I used to use it for groups but then those got annoying and drama filed so now I only have it to chat with people on Facebook messenger. Though even still I'm trying to get off it and just text instead. Facebook was always meh but now it's just become a cesspool for income form ads and everyone trying to show off and I'm just over it tbh.

frankly i really don't care about the data issue , after all , even searching something on google probably would make your personal info part of a mega-tracking festival so.
mostly i kinda hate how it's as aggressive as twitter , maybe less than twitter.
