My fianc? has finally decided to give Pok?mon a try--I picked up a copy of vanilla Sun and Moon so we could play through the series together.

I finished UltraMoon a while ago and have a complete living Pok?dex, so I decided that I would use this playthrough as an opportunity to use some Pok?mon and types that I have not used before. I don't want to go over the top and port in a whole team, so I sent myself a couple of eggs to hatch so I am starting as the "original trainer."

I decided to look at Pok?mon that evolve in three stages to take the place of my starter. This might seem crazy (or hey, maybe not), but I have never really gotten into dragon Pok?mon, so I bred up a Trapinch for myself so I can make Flygon my "main." I also sent myself a Bronzor since I haven't really used that guy before (it was between that and a Probopass since I wanted an big chungus on the team).

What are some Pok?mon that you've never given enough of a chance? Any you are curious to try out? I don't mind adding one or two to the team as I go, but I am mostly going to roll the dice on Pok?mon I find in game going forward. Of course, by the time I get to the second island I can pick up the Shiny Charm, so maybe I will just use whatever shiny Pok?mon I find on my journey!

When playing Ultra Sun, my first reaction to Oricorio was that it was a terrible Pok?mon. Probably didn't help that it was in its Pom-Pom style when I first saw it which I'm still not a huge fan of. For whatever reason I caught one (probably just to use as damage fodder) and it became a very helpful member of my team. It was so powerful during the early game as it destroyed everything with Air Cutter. As soon as I got it out of Pom-Pom form I decided to make it a permanent team member. The little guy really ended up surprising me and I like the Pok?mon quite a bit now.

Ironically enough, I like dragon types, but Flygon wasn’t really on my radar until I played my recent Pokemon White 2 Nuzlocke challenge, and when I caught a Trapinch as a first encounter at Reversal Mountain, I had no choice but to want to raise it into a Flygon. It ended up being a pivotal part of my team and helped me out of some tough spots, even though it ended up dying later and I lost the challenge. I have a newfound respect for Flygon now though that I didn’t have before. :)

Fun shiny since it seems like it is four-in-one. What form did you use?

Glad to hear Flygon isn't a wasted roster spot. It really was just about finding a three-tiered evolution that others don't seem to use. That Trapinch is really slow and its evolutions are fast makes the relationship feel extra earned, too.

I put him in every form at least once, until deciding on Baile style which is my favorite.

Also, Flygon seems like a good Pok?mon to use. I think it has a decent sized following, however it's probably one of the less liked Dragon-types. Although I haven't paid much attention to Pok?mon popularity for the past few years.

Milotic for me. Mine could take any hit while being a good offensive option. It levels up really quickly towards the end of the game which was really useful. Out of all the Pokemon I've ever used it's been my favourite with how good it was
