I just wanted to hear what made people buy their first games, what their initial moments in their new town were like, who welcomed them to the village, etc etc.

My dad got Animal Crossing Wild World for me, and to be honest, I knew nothing about it. It was just the cartridge, not the box or leaflet, so I sort of assumed it was a Frogger clone, where you had to get animal across a road (can you blame me?). But no, I loaded it up and found myself in Kapp'n's taxi, and I thought the character you controlled was the figurine on his dashboard. Looking at it now, I have no idea how I thought that. Anyways, I'd started playing it at night, as I was waiting for my turn for the bathroom. So he asks where I'm going. Where am I going? "Bed", I tell him. I'm going to bed. And I'm plonked in the town of Bed, very confused and sort of kicking myself for calling my town something so silly. Dotty was one of my first friends there, and I remember being really confused when my sister got the game and she had different villagers to me. I think that was the first (and maybe only) game I've ever played where the characters vary from player to player.

Bed actually went on to influence my New Leaf town, which is called Sleeping, as a reminder of my ignorant roots.

What about you? ;u; Any misconceptions or funny memories?

I didn't start playing Animal Crossing until New Leaf. I was always much more of a Pokemon fan back in the day.

Anyway, what made me want to start playing Animal Crossing was the LP Chuggaaconroy did of it on youtube. I love watching him play games and I can honestly kind of relate to him. I already had a 3DS, so I bought ACNL so I could play along with him. Best decision I ever made. :)

Well, a great friend of mine started to talk about Animal Crossing one day; Then i asked what it was, she explained some stuff about the game uwu
I needed to wait a few months, but finally, i purchased my game! When my dad gave me the came i couldn't help but run away from him so i could play it, with a huge smile on my face xD
I started the game and named my town "Candymon" as that friend suggested! >u< The first villager i met was Moe, he's my sweetie and forever will be. <3

Yay, another person who likes Moe!

I first got it when I was 8. I bought it thinking it was like Harvest Moon and I guess it sort of is. My first friend was Moe and I will always love him <3

My cousin had Wild World and was always playing it. It sounded really confusing to me; villagers moving? Where were they going? Eventually was so confused and fascinated that I asked for it for Christmas. My grandma got me a used version, so there was already a pre-created town on it (but whoever owned it before had deleted their character for some reason). So, not knowing anything, I just made a new file and ended up in the town of "tdot". The villagers there were Jeremiah, Nibbles, Tabby, Rhonda, Yuka, Angus, Apollo and Samson. My earliest memories are being in love with Jeremiah and hating Yuka because she called me an idiot one day. :/ Also I was really confused at first about why Tabby and Nibbles always said the same thing when I talked to them! I didn't know about the whole personality concept.

I lived in tdot from December 2010-July 2011. In July 2011 I decided that I wanted the experience of starting in a fresh town with only 3 villagers and getting to name the town myself. So I created "Appleton"...but then I missed tdot. I made a lot of new towns between then and 2013, trying to find the perfect one. Eventually I made Canada, which I've been living in for 2.5 years now!

And shortly after making Canada, I got New Leaf! I prefer New Leaf over Wild World but still play Wild World when I can. Lots of good memories of crazy villagers, summer night bug hunting, great friends and time traveling adventures! :D

My first Animal Crossing game was Wild World. I got it when I was about 6 and some of the villagers were my imaginary friends. I only remember two of the villagers I had, Angus and Alice. I hated Angus, but I loved Alice. Sadly, I lost my DS and ACWW along with it. I got ACCF too but I didn't spend much time on it.

I find this story so cute. (>w<)
Sadly, I began with New Leaf. I wanted my town to be called "Happyland" at first, but there weren't enough characters. So I went with the odd name of HappyVil, and I was the mayor. Hooray.
I also had absoloutely no idea how to get rich, lel. I didn't start catching stags until my second year playing! I used to think 5,000 was a lot of bells. ;w;

My first game was the original GameCube game. I'm not really sure why we bought it, but I think my sister had a friend that played Animal Crossing and she thought it looked really fun so she asked for us to get the game. We already had a GameCube at the time, so I think we just went out and got Animal Crossing.

My sister and I would play AC for hours at a time, I thought it was one of the best games ever. We would even wake up extra early on school days just to play before we had to leave for school all day.
I think I also already had a DS when Wild World came out and I was super excited to get WW since it meant I didn't have to wait for my sister to play before I could play and the whole town was just mine instead.

I've been playing Animal Crossing for a pretty long time :p I guess I could thank my sister and her friend for that.

I remember going to a Blockbuster near my house once and finding Wild World on one of the shelves. It looked interesting so I picked it up. But since I was quite young at the time, I was kind of confused with the whole concept of the game but I remember still enjoying it a lot. I used to re-rent it every time I went back. But then Blockbuster shut down one day so I eventually forgot about the game. But then when New Leaf came out and I saw the trailer, I thought to myself, damn this looks pretty familiar. Then I remembered and it was like my love for Animal Crossing started anew again. :p

First time I ever played was the GameCube one at my neighbors house. he let me play his file, and when he got tired of Nintendo(turned into a Microsoft person), he gave me all of his games, this included! I played it straight for one summer and then I didn't play again until new leaf.

My first game was WW.
So I got interested all in a day. I saw a commercial for it and saw you could play online. Now, when I first saw that, I thought your town was always online and you could always play with someone. So I got my dad to buy it for me. I got a used copy and there was already a town on there. Character was Satan and the town was Hell. LOL just my luck to get a game with a town like that. For a while, I didn't even know what to do. When I saw it wasn't online all the time, I didn't like it as much. But I eventually found out how to restart, so I did. Once I got the hang of it (I didn't use any guides or anything, I figured everything out myself) I really loved that game. That town was amazing because it came with the beautiful, gorgeous and sweet Rosie! That's where my love for her began <3

Not a great story but I was a huge fan of Harvest Moon and The Sims and when I got my DS I was looking for games that were similar and AC WW kept cropping up as one of the best types of those games. So I bought mine and spent a lot of time on it :D

I got Population Growing when I was 1, and I often sat in the lounge whilst my mom controlled my character - I pointed at the clothes I wanted from the Able Sisters and furniture I wanted from Nook's Cranny - and when I turned 2, I could control it myself. My first favourite villager was Biskit, and he's still my favourite now. :)

my first one was the gamecube version. i saw it in the video store one day and decided to go ahead and rent it, and the rest is history.

My first game was the gamecube version. I don't exactly remember how I got it, but I believe my mother came home with it one day and I was the first to play. My brother and sister also played this version, however I played it the most (Got the Gold Statue). I remember enjoying it so much. Then I got ACWW and then ACNL.

I have restarted several times on all of the games. I just can't seem to stay in a town for so long :p

I took my son to the dentist and they had a gamecube in the lobby with ac in it. I was bored and went to play it. I couldn't believe how incredably stupid it was. It seemed so boring and wierd. A few months later, my son started playing it with a friend. He insisted that I start a character. I really didn't want to but he talked me into it. Next thing I knew, I was hooked.

I remember how exciting it was to go to nooks and see what furniture was for sale that day. Catching a new fish was also exciting, especially if the shadow was really big. I was so happy when I caught my first stringfish.

My favorite furniture was cabin and jingle. My whole house was decorated with it. Blaire was my fave villager, and Freya annoyed me.

The one of the first games I ever bought for myself was Animal Crossing for Gamecube. I had just bought myself a Gamecube and went to GameStop to pick out a game. I already played the Sims a lot and Animal Crossing looked kind of similar so I picked it out. (Plus it came with a free memory card...how can you go wrong?). I named my town Coconut, and my town fruit was Oranges...I loved the game a lot, and played tons. Chevre was my favourite villager in that one. I was always writing her letters in perfect English because otherwise she would say she couldn't understand it. My brother and sister made files too and it was awesome. I still have my original town and can play every now and then for the nostalgia trip.

When I was in the sixth grade I had never played a video game in my life. My parents never got me video games because i never even know what they were. When I went to visit my grandma and aunt I saw my aunt playing wild world. I played it for a while and then I was hooked. My aunt decided to just get me I'm own Nintendo ds and that is how it all started. Now I love video games and want to work in the game industry when I get out of collage.

I first played Animal Crossing on gamecube when I was about 5. I had saw my sister playing it and I wanted to give it a shot, so my mom bought me and my brother a gamecube to share and animal crossing. From that point on we were hooked, we'd play everyday after school and I'd stay up late trying to collect all of the different Bugs and Fish. My young mind was amazed at the fact that my town and my sister's town were so different but I guess that's part of the charm. Ever since then I've been in love with the series

When I first bought acnl, I was hooked. My first experience as mayor was I did all my "not mayor" stuff, and suddenly, fireworks festival! At the time, I didn't know the fireworks festival was a thing, so I just thought that it was a event celebrating myself as mayor, I felt so happy!
