French article provides new info on donating fish/bugs

What? Wait? There is no – button on the Switch Light? That cannot be.

i have no clue - i won’t be getting the switch lite until next week but you mentioned the controllers will have the button for the regular switch, so the switch lite should have a – button, right? or at the very least, another button that’ll force save.

There's a "-" button for sure. It's at the top.

The only issue is any expiring fish or bugs. If the Museum doesn't open by March 31, and you've sold all your stash, you'll have to wait another year.

I personally don't have any problem with that. I don't like rushing through or "playing optimally" with my collecting. I didn't use any sort of guide with New Leaf for at least three years! :p I can totally understand people who do want to complete things as fast or efficiently as possible.

Sometimes, I even wait to donate a specific fish or whatever on a specific day to mark the occasion. I fully know I'm a strange player though!

Hmmm I wonder if it'll even be possible to wait for the Museum then unless you don't sell any fish until then. Like it's not certain it'll be an option to donate or if he will just automatically keep the first of every fish species you sell.

Either way, I think it's good because people could accidentally sell off a rare fish or one that goes out of season before the museum opens and that'd feel like the one that got away.

iirc, Blathers didn't have anything unique to say about bugs and fish in NL unlike previous games, so I don't really care who I donate it to if he's not going to say anything special. [SUB]Honestly it made him kinda useless as an NPC to me and I was disappointed he had nothing to say[/SUB]

It's possible he has something to say this time, however. During the Direct, when the villager donated, it was more than one at a time, which bypassed a species-specific conversation. But there hasn't been anything that showed or said Blathers won't have a unique thing to say if only donating one at a time.

Oh that?s interesting! I actually forgot that blathers wouldn?t be there at first.

Honestly though I might just wait to donate everything to Blathers just to add a little longevity to my game. If I find something super rare though, I?ll donate to Nook or keep it in my home until I build the museum.

That's a good idea tbh. I hope the museum doesn't take toooo long to unlock.

I don't trust Nook.

He'll either sell them for a profit, or eat them.

Maybe it’s so that players who want to keep the Island undeveloped can still fill up their catalog?
Remember they said that you only unlock things when you’ve made enough progress—it could require several “developments” to get the museum that would be in opposition to a natural island.

I think the option to donate to Nook is actually fine, as long as the stuff we donate to him will go into the museum once it has been built. In past games, I always donated the first bug/fish I caught to the museum, so if Nook does indeed give the things we donate to him to the museum once it has been built, then I will most likely do that. Also, I'm so glad we can force save in this game. If I need to save and you know, quit the game so I can go do something else, this will be a lifesaver, because I never really know when it auto saves.

I hope they bring back Blathers' individual comments for each bug/fish/fossil. :( I think that was one of my biggest disappointments with New Leaf.
