My thought process isn't "mafia wouldn't possibly do something this dumb" though. I didn't read the last game, but I'd wager that Ness, while acting stupidly wolfy, didn't really have a townish reason for doing so. Meanwhile, Antonio said this when I pressed him on this, which makes me think there was thought behind the action besides "dumb meme":

with how little has actually happened since last night and EOD is in ~12 hrs, if not a whole lot happens i'm casting my vote for endless.
purely just bcos i don't like when ppl try that hard to steer/control the game. it's a game, you should be able to work with the content that the players provide without adding caveats.

One of my biggest concerns is how are we going to vote during this phase if there's nothing to work with.

I wouldn't say we have nothing. I am staunchly against voting off an inactive though. Inactives give literally zero information at this stage of the game. If they're going to continue to be inactive, let the mods deal with them.

to elaborate a tiny bit more though, i get that but the inverse should also be true. you can't expect everyone to play the way you play, so you shouldn't be telling people what to do or not do. especially so early on where fluff does make up a lot of the content idk.

okay just skimmed back and this is pretty much all there is. i don't think it's much, but it's notable that anyone who took the 'we're past the point of memes' stuff as basically an explicit order to stop memeing comes across to me as hyper-aware of their behaviour and how they are perceived by the rest of the players
it just pings me because i tend not to consider any one player as having authority over the others so if someone was like 'okay time to stop memeing' i just.. wouldn't?

this is all very tinfoil hat theory, what would the use of keeping rping for the whole game and ignore people asking to actually play the game? I dont think it's AI that people just respected and took it seriously BUT I would like that Ace/Cake/etc would give their thoughts on this

Although I understand how the sudden obedience to Endless’s no-memeing post can be seen as suspect, I don’t think it’s enough. Those players could have just felt called out on and slightly guilty of “not taking the game seriously.” (But it’s D1 so nobody should expect groundbreaking discoveries.) And even townies, although not to the same extent as scum, should be pretty aware of their behavior and perception to other players.
