Gamestop cancelling midnight release.

Just wanted to share in case some of you are planning to pick up at midnight. I didn't have time to read the whole article though, so idk if it's every location.

Its likely just to mitigate people from gathering. Midnight releases tend to get rather... packed. I remember my EB Games did a midnight release for Pokemon X and Y, and there were sooooooooo many people there to pick up their pre-orders.

I was planning to attend this exact midnight release and am a little skeptical to believe it and cancel my plans unless GameStop actually comes out and says this themselves. I haven't seen any statement released by them and not either this news source or Polygon that says this. Does anyone know where it would say that? I'm sure they'd say it themselves and inform their customers directly if this were the case, right?

damn that sucks. i ordered from best buy but this sucks for those who were planning to go to gamestop :c

Yeah, most people who are getting a physical copy most likely can't get it at midnight. Even Walmart changed the hours to all of their stores for now to be something like 6am-11pm for the ones that are normally 24 hours.

My fiance works for Gamestop and our location has not yet cancelled the midnight release. As of now, it's still scheduled as planned. Before taking any drastic measures such as cancelling your preorder and buying digital, I would call your specific location and ask them directly.
