I would totally love to wear gloves or mittens- they could make them match all the winter hats! Sadly I think it would be hard for villagers to wear them since some villagers have wings or irregular shaped hands. I'd also love it if they wore little boots too!

All I’ll need is just black gloves so my character looks like he has hooves...I doubt we’ll get gloves, though.
I think it's not a thing for the same reason the animals don't wear shoes. There's some species that would look strange with gloves or shoes (like octopuses, birds, ducks...). They also don't wear pants/skirts/shorts, but I think it's because it's a design choice that was made in order to maintain the classic anthropomorphic cartoon animal look.
It's a cute idea for our characters... but I just don't think it'd work with the hand shapes. Even if you could wear them, they wouldn't look like mittens or gloves. More like you dipped your hands in paint or something.
And it'd be pretty much impossible for villagers, I think. There is so much variation in hand shape/sizes and yet, again, not enough definition for them to really look like gloves.

Definitely agree with this! I would love to wear gloves in the winter and even see my villagers wearing them, as that would be really neat! Even though my character would wear heavy pants, coats, and knit hats, it still feels cold not having anything on the hands...
Omg yes! I really wish scarves were separate things so you could mix and match them with different outfits instead of being tied to only one shirt and doesn't even look that 3D. Surprised earmuffs aren't a thing either!

even if it looks a bit funky I like the idea of having mittens! failing that, scarves and earmuffs would be so cute!! and I definitely agree with villagers wearing boots - I think it'd look so cute to see them all shuffling around in snow shoes!
