I feel like we can have a nice and serious discussion about this discussion but I am probably wrong. I like the comparison to the issue with guns in the video. What is your opinion about guns and the video above?
i think it's a terrible comparison that both makes very little sense and is used as a euphemism because "kids getting clawed in the face" and "tons of aggressive cats on the street" sound better than "school shootings" and "guns everywhere lol".
cats are living animals and often humans are the reason why they're "awful", if someone keeps getting in a cat's personal space or being a threat to them they will attack. but there's nothing inherently dangerous or bad about cats, they don't kill people efficiently, they aren't used for "self defense" and their only purpose isn't to be used to hurt other living creatures. even if we're using the (stupid) "cats scratch people uwu" analogy it doesn't work because cats can't/don't claw 50 people in ten minutes and they generally aren't scratching people because they're evil and want to hurt people.
banning cats wouldn't work because cats are living creatures that there's nothing wrong with (so there's no reason to remove them) and they breed on their own. banning guns is possible and comparing it to banning cats is extremely stupid.
the gun issues usa has are not going to be solved by comparing guns to cats in a stupid way. people need to realize that they are part of the gun culture and reason why so many people die because of gun violence. they need to do something about it instead of going into full defense mode and claiming they have a right to kill someone unarmed who breaks into their house to steal stuff and that guns (which have no other use than violence ("but hobby shooting!!!!!!" use something less dangerous like a soft air gun or whatever????)) are good and ethical to have.
getting rid of all the guns in the us will be difficult because there are so many and people think they need them but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. people are murdered, assaulted, robbed and commit suicide with guns. yes, you can do all those things with things like knives but knives aren't as dangerous and they have many other uses that aren't to hurt someone. besides carrying knives around with intentions to hurt someone or for self defense is illegal at least where i live so it's not like you're free to do whatever you want with them either.
americans who sleep with their guns like they are plushy animals and defend their right to carry guns need to grow up. human rights (to live, to be safe, to have an education etc.) are more important than an old constitutional right saying it's fine to be able to easily murder people.
