Today, March 20th, marks the first anniversary of Animal Crossing New Horizons! Share your fondest memories of the game.

Me? It's gotta be the very first day on the island. Just being clueless on what to do and discovering things on my own.

Oh yeah, I'm not sure if everyone has a heavy meteor shower on their island today (March 20th), or is it just me? I thought that maybe it's to commemorate the anniversary.

Oh man.....its been a long journey and I have this one picture from March 2020 from what my island looks like. I don't even know what I was doing at the time. I am so glad that I changed this a long time ago and its alot better than this. I have a dream address in my signature of what looks like now. Looking back its so hard to even imagine what it used to look like before:

I will never forget the early days of my island, back when there was no ramps and just 1 bridge, running around catching peacock butterflies at the butterfly farm I made.

They since nerfed the spawn rates but I made a model of the peacock buttery to commemorate the hours of fun catching them as orange glow of the sunset covered my barren island

I have a heavy meteor shower on the night of the 20th too! It's still just the 19th for me right now.

There are so many things that I remember from this past year that I loved. Day one is definitely one of them! And I remember eggs being all over for Bunny Day, as annoying as that was. Peacock butterflies and tarantulas being common as heck all. Summer updates with swimming and fireworks. Halloween. Turkey Day and Toy Day. New Year's! Oh gosh, there was so much, and I loved all of it!

can't believe it's been an entire year since we were blessed with this incredible game

i think the funniest memory was when i first got judy and cried for an hour then only spoke to her for 3 days, i just completely ignored all my other villagers
also raymond being sold for $1000 will never not be funny to me

but i remember a few months into the game, i had finished decorating my first island and had never been more proud of myself, looking back it just seems like a pretty basic island lol
tbh though, sometimes i wish i hadn't reset because then i could celebrate the 1 year anniversary on my original island but ah well

so yeah this game has really helped me over the past year, idk what i would have done without it
there's literally no other game i could play all day every day for a year and still not get bored of it haha

The first few weeks of the game was the most exciting. Island totally bare and open to so many possibilities. I enjoyed all the discussions that were happening here as the game came out, the speculation and excitement. It's what I really needed after the absolute disappointment and heartbreak that resulted from the whole Pokemon divide that happened months prior. New Horizons may have it's problems, but it's still a therapeutic and fun entry to the series.

I surely don't miss my mustache-less face from the early days though haha.

Looking at the all the photos I have and oh my goodness, how things have changed.
I remember that the only villager I wanted was Rudy and I figured he'd be one of the last villagers I'd get cause what are the chances to get the one villager you want?

He managed to be the 6th villager and he showed up quickly by island hopping. I was super happy and he's still on the island.

This is the earliest picture I have on tbt. This is when I found Bubbles on a mystery island by accident. I already had her amiibo card to scan her in when that was unlocked so this was a nice surprise. I think I was just looking for materials.

Got my oldest pictures off my switch today. Today is my 1 year anniversary and I’ve spent the whole year with my buddy Mac.

My earliest memories were fighting scorpions, witnessing thunderstorms and finding flower hybrid islands. I'm so glad I found a couple before they were removed.

I had never heard of the game and then a colleague was talking about how they were going to download it and stay up late playing even though it was the eve of their wedding. I thought "Wow, this must be some game..."

It certainly has been a great year for the Animal Crossing series as a whole! I still remember getting the game during launch and being the first among my friends to have a meteor shower going, and I invited everyone over and we took pictures.

Rather than trying to find my earliest memory/picture of the game though (which I don’t think I have anyway), I hand picked four different pictures here that perfectly encapsulate my love for the game. Take a look!

When I got my passport finished for the first time I loved it! Haven’t changed it much since.

Watching fireworks during the summer with my good friend @xara ! It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it, as well as the TBT Fair.

My entry for one of the Halloween events using New Horizons. It happened to be dark and raining that day, which made my entry all the more terrifying!

Bonus picture that I haven’t shared before featuring Lucky being confused that I looked like Santa.

wow this year flew by! happy anniversary everyone! this game isn't perfect but i think it might just be close to my favorite one in the series so far, and i've met so many incredible people through this game and here on the forums <3

it’s still the 19th where i live but i can’t believe it’s been a whole ass year already; feels like just yesterday i was sitting in my parents’ bedroom, trying to distract myself with movies and TLC shows until my copy of nh arrived . i’m not even gonna lie, this post is gonna be a doozy as i have so many fond memories and photos that i want to share. :’)

my very first photo!!

my first time visiting the museum once it was upgraded! i took a few photos with the different exhibits but this one’s my favourite. :’)

my first incline! while this wasn’t much of an accomplishment, this photo makes me feel nostalgic for the first few weeks of gameplay; the unexpanded nook’s cranny, the fact that every villager in this photo has since moved out,, definitely one of my favourite photos that i’ve taken this far.

throwback to when redd literally almost killed me.

another one of my favourite photos!! not too sure what it is about it but the confetti, the nighttime and how bewildered everyone looks honestly makes my heart warm aha.

while i’ve always had a list of villagers that i’d love to have, audie was the one dreamie that i was desperate for. this day didn’t start too well for me - after an english assignment i was working on accidentally got deleted, i wasn’t too happy but since i was up, i figured i’d boot up nh at like,, 6am. when isabelle told me that i had a camper, i cracked my usual joke of “haha what if it’s audie” and well-

my very first 5 star rating in animal crossing! if anyone told new leaf me that one day, i’d have a 5 star rating, she wouldn’t believe you LMAO.

the dream suite was one of the only features that i was really hoping for and even though it’s not a suite anymore, i’m still super happy that dreams + luna made a return! took this while dreaming for the first time and just,, look how gorgeous it is!

aika village was one of my favourite dream towns in new leaf and i was really glad to hear that the creator made a new horizons version! i uh,, wasn’t too glad about having to see those creepy eyes again, though lmao.

took this during the “musical chairs” game from the tbt fair! i didn’t win but this was still super fun to participate in!

hanging out with the lovely @Dunquixote and they gave me a tour of their amazing island!

back in december, @meo hosted a “festive tree gift exchange” for the holidays and while this was my first time participating in something like this, i’m so, so glad that i did as i got to meet some amazing folks and had a great time delivering and receiving presents! sadly, i can’t remember which user i took this photo with but i’ll always cherish this memory. <3

and lastly, my birthday!! this was only a few weeks ago but the birthday event was so, so lovely and i’m glad that i finally got to experience it! happy that i was able to get one of each birthday item, as well.

Here’s one of the first screenshots I took, I can’t believe it’s already been a year! This game has brought me so much fun and I’m super excited to see how it changes the next few years!!

I remember all the memes about 30 iron nuggets, the ironwood kitchenette, cutting board, and crescent moon chair recipes in the first few weeks when everyone was playing. Always fun to remember!

It's finally March 20th where I am, and wow. I was looking back at some of my photos, since for about the first few months of playing ACNH, I would take a picture everyday starting at launch (didn't last because I got lazy, surprise surprise), and it made me so sad but so happy to go back and experience these memories. This game really helped me get through 2020; it was a terrible year for a lot of us, but on all those days where I was stressed, or simply bored and anxious from being quarantined, this game kept me occupied. I am grateful Nintendo released it when they did

Anyway, I just wanted to celebrate my island and this game by sharing some comparison pictures of my island of when I first started to where I am now, exactly one year later (only for March 20th, of course):

I appreciate this game for all that it offered and continues to offer, as well everyone it connected me with through these forums. Obviously I've been here a while now, but New Horizons really got me back into participating in threads and it was fun being able to actually start with everyone else at launch and theorize what updates would come and what everything meant. So here's to hoping for another good year for Animal Crossing!
