Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town remake announced for Nintendo Switch

According to an article released by Famitsu, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town is getting remade for the Nintendo Switch. Screenshots from the magazine and website seem to indicate a more 3D approach instead of the 2D style of the original. You can see them in the link.

I put a lot of hours in the GBA version, so I'm hoping this is good.

Kinda wished they would make a remake of Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life.

I never played Friends of Mineral Town but it sounds interesting. I may check it out.

Also, I thought 'Harvest Moon' is now 'Story of Seasons'? Or did I misunderstood something?

You are correct. "Story of Seasons" games are the true Harvest Moon games with Japanese development. Currently Xseed has the license for the series, but Natsume refused to hand over the "Harvest Moon" brand name. So they've kept the name and release their own games in the same style as before, but they're often inferior. Unfortunately, this information wasn't really published well, so many were unaware of the change.

Harvest Moon's Japanese name translates to "Farm Story", so "Story of Seasons" is a bit closer to the original name. I fully expect the remake to be renamed as a "Story of Seasons" entry whenever it comes west.

Friends of Mineral Town was definitely one of the best entries, IMO. of years. The "Girl Version" added even more features to it.

Oh yes baby fomt! I loved fomt and mfomt so much one of the best HM games besides the original game on the snes. Oh the childhood memories and I still love Popuri and Gray! Can't wait!!! So hyped right know

Is this true? I’m excited but at the same time sceptical. I hope it doesn’t have the trashy art styles the new Harvest Moons have. The game boy sprite work on mineral town is tough competition.

I only watched the first 10 seconds of the video, but those characters and animals at the beginning of the vid look so realistic! Im definately buying with graphics like those!

FoMT is probably my favorite HM game. I put so many hours into it and I absolutely loved it. I'm buying this on day one for sure.

XSEED Games has issued a press release explaining that they will be localizing the game, although no release date has been given. It's been confirmed that the game will indeed be renamed "Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town".

It's been years since the last time I played a Harvest Moon game. At the moment, I'm not interested
in getting this game, maybe I will change my mind at a later time.

Not sure if it's related but I've read that Harvest Moon: Light of Hope will launch later this month, which is pretty nice!

I'm still not familiar with this series, or Rune Factory for the matter... not even sure where to start. There's so many Harvest Moon games on DS, 3DS and now a few on Switch. : o Rune Factory, too.

Light of Hope came out for consoles and mobile last year. It came out for Steam in 2017. The version coming out this year is a version with all of the DLC included. The game is okay by Natsume standards, but you're far better off just getting Stardew Valley.

Light of Hope is a not "true" Harvest Moon game, but a game made by Natsume using the name. The last true Harvest Moon game that used that title is "A New Beginning", if I recall correctly. It was after that game that Marvelous began using their own localization for the games. All of the true Harvest Moon titles use the "Story of Seasons" title now.
