If anyone remembers what flash games are, flash games are games made in Adobe Flash or Shockwave flash. Whichever flash player they use. They are prominent in the early days of the internet especially Newgrounds and other flash game sites.

I've played a couple of flash games but they are usually those uhh...Girl games or something where you dress up a character and not games that are popular like Watergirl and Fireboy. I'm not sure if Club Penguin is considered a flash game, even though it lines up more in mmorpg territory.

I put 2025 edition in the title because I looked up a similar topic, but the thread itself is made in 2011.

Yea I used to play heaps as a kid! Kizi was the main site I played games on which, looking it up now, turns out it still exists, although it looks pretty different- , and some of the main ones I remember were (mostly the popular ones tbh) the papas games, duck life, fireboy and watergirl, run, sushi cat and snail bob? Ik there were heaps tho.
Off that site though I mainly remember the impossible quiz and I'm pretty sure animal jam was run on flash, but they moved over to a launcher after flash went down (don't play anymore, but did as a kid!)

My favorite flash games (that I can remember) are the Impossible Quiz and Impossible Quiz 2. Some of the solutions are quite clever (like making a bridge by right clicking to make a little window pop up, or moving your mouse away to make little elephants appear). I only wish I knew what Sonic did to make Splapp-me-do hate him so much...

Yessss! Loads! I used to play on Miniclip (Skywire was my favourite) and a site I think was called GirlGoGames or something because I preferred those to the 'boy' flash games lol. When I got a little bit older a lot of us at school realised that CoolMathsGames wasn't blocked on the school computers so I switched to that, but normally the same games.

I used to play around with Flash games all the time! I actually remember back on another, now-dead forum I used to frequent, I would play this one specific minigolf game with some friends pretty frequently, since it had online multiplayer and ran fairly well. Don't recall which particular one it was, and there are tons of very similar games, so I'll probably never recall exactly which one I played, but it was a fun time waster.

It's not quite Flash exactly, but I also used to really like this game called InkLink that iirc relied on Shockwave rather than Flash, but was similarly a web game. Basically one of those Pictionary-type games where you are given a word to try to draw and others have to try to guess the word. Had some flaws, like a few words weren't able to be guessed correctly because they'd unintentionally trip the word filter, and sometimes users would gang up and vote to kick people from rooms, but I still had fun.

Yeah so long ago I can't remember the name of any of them. When I was younger and didn't have many video games. I remember them as smaller puzzle or platformer type games mostly, or simple games just trying to get a high score. I've played phone games that were a lot like some of the ones I remember so maybe I was playing really early versions of those? I also remember watching a lot of funny animated flash videos.

This really shows my age but yeah, flash games were the best time-wasters back when I was in highschool and college. I particularly enjoyed the escape room games like the Crimson Room (and others in the series). There's also the really creepy ones like The House and Exmortis.

I just realized how much into horror I already am back then.

i played games on friv a lot. used to play fireboy and watergirl and the henry stickman games amongst others, but spent the most time on a mining ores type game called motherload. remembered the existence of the game last year or so, looked it up on youtube and found out the final boss was satan lol

I still open up flashpoint every so often to play some flash games, I've even wanted to make a mockup of smash bros with flash game original characters

Oh yeah. I used to love flash games back in elementary/middle school (until adobe flash got shut down). They were mostly those “girl games” that involved dress up and things of that sort, and papa’s (game)eria games.

flash games were basically the majority of my childhood lmao. moshi monsters was the main one, but i also frequented places like girlsgogames, andkon arcade and coolmathgames -- bloxorz was a big one i played on that. some others that come to mind are the riddle school series, :the game:, and cyclomaniacs, which i think also had a sequel i played. on girlsgogames, i mostly played horse related games. i remember one that was an endless platformer where you played as a white alicorn lol. i think another was charger escape? a point and click game about a horse. i actually just went to replay it on a random site, and it's still really fun! even at my grown age, there was this one part i was stuck on for ages lmao.

Oh my god, moshi monsters mentioned! You can still play the game today through Moshi Online. Even the daily growl and secret codes are active, you can also reach out to mods on discord for support if needed. I am playing it almost daily, it's a great revival of the game.

oh, i know, i have it lmao! some of my item redesigns are in the game, including a moshling plush version of my oc, claire. i played the previous version, moshi community, i think it was, before it got dmca'd, too.

Having to be asked makes me feel old, lol.
Yes, I used to play a lot of various flash games. Neopets had some and Club Penguin itself ran on flash. There was also Tamatown (Tamagotchi related) that shut down before flash did.
I also remember when all the websites for kid's TV channels were full of flash games. Those were pretty fun.

Well I have you beat @Seastar lol. I don’t actually remember “flash games” I was very aware of Adobe Flash. I probably was buried in books at college. I remember first getting the internet late in 1992. It was all text based, there was no GUI until Mosaic appeared later in ‘93, and you just about had to be a programmer to use the net, lol. Luckily I had take MS DOS classes so I has a tad bit of knowledge. But I do remember it taking all night to download one file and of course it was on dialup and your phone would be “busy” that entire time so common practice was to download large files (1 mg, lol!) overnight so as not to tie up the phone lines. Nothing was worse than waking up in the morning expecting your file to have downloaded (taking several hours) only to find out there was a glitch or hiccup and you had to start all over again. Yep, those were the days. Also computers that didn’t even have hard drives, just floppy disks. Sorry I think I hijacked your thread. I do apologize. It’s just that you brought some pretty strong memories back to this old brain! I wish I would have known about the flash games, definitely would have been playing them, lol.

oh my god.
i was a y8 and notdoppler kid!! i played all sorts of silly flash games, from the stickman guys to some sandbox games to the parlor/dress up games. my childhood.

i was also on the big sites like moshi monsters, club penguin, pop tropica.... but NOTHING could beat my loyalty to neopets back in the day. i had multiple accounts and i played until i was in my late teens. i was so obsessed with neopets it was insane 😭 as i grew older i kinda started getting into the more complicated side of neopets, like the neopets pound with unconverted pets (a whole new can of worms) and the daily food club where a LOT of math and statistics wete going on. i was also on the neopets reddit for a bit where people were giving away their old treasured pets, i managed to adopt some baby neopets and they were so cute!!

... anyway i got carried away, yes flash games were my life 🥹

oh my god that's amazing! i didn't get internet until like 2007? it was a dial-up that lasted only an hour and flash games took like 20 mins to load so i'd usually end up playing 1-2 games before the internet would cut out lol. i remember i got my first phone around 2009 and it only had about 5 mb of storage; as a kid i had to choose which 2 songs i had to listen to for life because that's just how much my storage could handle lol.

my favourite browser game to play as a kid was Webkinz, and it was a flash game, so yes 😄 obviously flash is gone now, but Ganz converted Webkinz into a computer application/program, so it can still be played. yes, I still play it to this day. and yes, it still gives huge flash vibes hehe
