Hello Kitty Adventure Island

I just bought the game today and since I had bought $60 in eShop cards for funds for the Deluxe version, I had to buy the standard but then still got the DLC by using the Gold Points I earned from buying the game to cover what I couldn’t before.

Last night I started a 2nd game using a 2nd Profile on the Switch. It was a test to see if extra profiles get the Deluxe bonus items. The answer was yes. Profile 2 checked the Mail from the Devs and received all the letters with items in them and the 100 tickets for the Event. Happy with the Devs.

I made some progress in the game. I unlocked the Nature Preserve. I really like talking to the different characters and like how relaxing they made the game.

I bought the $40 version because I don't think this game is worth $60. It's fun and cute but very gatekeepy. In my opinion it doesn't translate well for a Switch/Console or PC game. It feels very like a gachapon mobile game. It think it should've just stayed as a mobile game only.
The developers make it very clear early game that they dislike time travelers. If you do time travel, especially when trying multiplayer, you will be bricked. My friend didn't know his Switch was a day ahead, started a new file and then attempted to play multiplayer and the system freaked out on him (the UI scolds you basically). So he tried to set the time to current time and he could not access his save file. He had to make a new file.

Lots of gatekeeping and timekeeping elements. For multiplayer, you get quests to do with your friend(s) (only one friend can be invited to your island) and you can only complete a couple a week. My friend and I were on task 6 and they locked us out for a week. yaay for that. There's seasonal events but you can only do one task a day. For this month, it's Valentine's theme and we catch caterpillars but only one.

I have encountered three game breaking bugs where I fell through the ground TWICE and camera broke on me during a cutscene. I sent a log report for all of them. The soil is hungry for cute animals.

I mean I am having fun being a little menace and all. Here's me early game where I shoved Hello Kitty into the wall.

I picked it up on steam to actually use my steam deck been really enjoying it. Think I’m gonna rebuy it for the switch since it’s my preferred system. I’d like to get into the multiplayer aside if anyone wants to play. I’m def having trouble doing all the “quests “ there is a lot to do.

I want to buy this game but been told there are puzzles in it also how will the game last
The puzzle will give you Pokémon rage quit puzzle ptsd I am having a lot of trouble with the puzzles I’m really bad with that stuff.

I've been really enjoying playing the game! I'm just trying to take my time so I don't get burnt out on it like I did with Animal Crossing. I'm really enjoying doing all the little quests for all the characters and increasing their friendships. I do admit I have a hard time figuring out what to gift everyone but I finally found a site that will tell me what is good to gift the characters so I'm excited for that to be easier for me. So far the people that have visited my island are: Cappucino, Espresso, Dear Daniel and Mimmy. I think I am close to getting Dear Daniel as a permanent resident (as well as Mimmy) I'm excited to get more visitors but I just have to remember to look at their cabin requirements and get those ready before the dates they visit.

If the Deluxe Edition Quests goes missing from your Quest list and you haven't received them open your Inventory and look for an Egg marked Deluxe Edition and open it. Profile 2 had the the Deluxe Edition Quests listed at the start of the game and the Crafting bonus items disappeared from the Quest list later in the game. Opening the egg worked. The last bundle had a Quest and worked fine.

Ah ok gotcha maybe I’ll re-buy it for this switch with the deluxe version I’m not super keen on the steam deck I just got it because price was it was a bit cheaper to try. Now that I know I like it will prob do that

I've been playing since the Switch/PC launch and while I've been enjoying it, I have complaints!

To start, as others have said, the game really isn't worth $40, let alone $60 dollars. I did spring for the deluxe edition because I know I wouldn't want to play for years to get access to the good items, and the extra crafting supplies and friendship blossoms helped move the game along faster. I'm not a fan of mobile games and the time gating thing gets really annoying for someone like me, I'm also someone who time travels in AC a lot, and the dev's attitude about time traveling is pretty pretentious and annoying. I decided to get it on Steam because I didn't want to worry about corrupting my save file if my Switch clock is on the wrong date.

The Multiplayer is really lacking in fun things to do (in some ways even worse than AC) and I don't care for the races littering the entire island. I also don't like that if you pick up items on another player's island they lose those items for the day, it really makes playing together pointless. Another complaint I have is the interior decorating. Unlike in AC, you can't adjust the camera angle inside houses/visitor cabins, this really limits the ways you can design a room, not to mention that you can't decorate outside of cabins at all save for preset flowerbed areas. The daily tasks are mindless fun to zone out to, but picking up the same resources everyday is getting rather old already, though it is nice that once you reach best friends with someone you can ask them to pick up all of one type of resource for the day.

I was shocked to see how in depth the flower breeding system is in this game, as every other mechanic feels incredibly simplified. But it may be to the point of over complication, and it's a shame that there is only so many small patches of space that you can plant flowers in (most of which are too small to efficiently breed flowers in) when there is such a wide range of flowers available in the game, it would take months if not years of real time to get them all and some are only available during real time events.

All that being said, the NPC Sanrio characters are all really cute and actually have a good amount of personality. It's been fun seeing Sanrio characters I didn't know existed and some of my favorite characters having major roles in this game made me so happy to see (Retsuko, Chococat and even Big Challenges all have major roles in the main story! ) Some of the items you can decorate houses with are very cute and up to the quality of AC (the moving wallpapers are great just like in AC) and I love the halloween themed ones.

Overall, this game definitely isn't for everyone. For me, the game is filling in a small part of the hole left behind by AC, but I'm treating this game as an extra thing to play when I want to take a break from the main game I'm playing right now (Metaphor Refantazio). For casual players it would be wise to wait for a sale, or to play it on Apple Arcade if you have access to that.

I've been playing since release and I'm kinda over it. Stuff being locked behind friendship levels is kinda boring, everything is such a gameplay loop and it feels too restrictive. It's easy to compare it to Animal Crossing, it kinda doesn't want to be that because you don't have the freedom to focus on what you'd really like but then it also doesn't want to be an adventure game with no time barriers.

Most of the elements are good, but everything is locked behind friendship and I'm tired of farming high love items.

If you or anyone else wants to play multiplayer on Steam, feel free to dm me and we'll figure out a time to do that. There's so much else to do in the game I just keep delaying that multiplayer quest.

I’m interested I just got the dlc add on for deluxe on steam actually. Send me a inbox I’ve never done multiplayer yet

If anyone has the switch version let me know because I would love to do multiplayer and I keep getting the weekly quest of multiplayer but I have no one to play with because so far the friends I have that play it don't play it on the switch but play it on other platforms :(.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Discord Posted Content Update 1 for the Switch/PC coming Soon.
Reddit HKIA posted it. I hope they add spawning items up to 3 days for those they can't play each day.

I would really like to play this game but I’m currently out of a job, but I wanted to know from others how which version I should look into getting and if it’s worth the money.

I've been playing the standard version and there's stuff to do everyday, and I would say it's worth it. Both versions have the same story content. Deluxe has access to some extra clothing/furniture items but you would still have to unlock them. Other than those, you can find all the same items in the game, you will just have a lot less of them at first. Most of those crafting materials are easy to get over time. So far they have also been giving out the blossoms most days. Dyes seem more tedious to get. Strawberry crates depends on how fast you want to unlock cabins. Overall I would say only go deluxe if you want to go faster paced in the game and maximum customization.

Edit for more info: Recently found out the items you unlock with friendship beads are actually the same as the deluxe version items, but that they should be much faster to unlock in deluxe.
