Oh wow, this looks great! I wish I had this kind of ambition tbh xD

I think this is a neat and great idea! I don’t have any feedback to contribute aside from a bump for the thread. :)

Kinda same, I probably don't have anything useful to add but I will 100% support this and hopefully get to play it one day :)

@Spike Spiegel : Thank you a lot! And your bump is welcome, I?m always happy to see a new comment on this thread. :D

@Cwynne : I?m so glad to read that people enjoy this thread, thank you! And don?t be afraid not to have something special to say, having your support is enough to warm my heart.

Speaking of the character, here she is! Ready to take the train to here new home. ;)

Omg she's holding my fav chicken.

Also, those stickers on her travel bags remind me of the Easter eggs people put in movies.

I voted for the last four options, but now that I think about it, I should've voted for the very first, too.

@Cwynne : Aw, thank you! <3
@Stella-Io : Ahah, yes, it was the idea! :D
@nintendofan85: Okay, we will take it into account! In any case, thank you for voting. :)

Here is my latest creation for a wolf character! Don’t be fool by his fierce face, he’s really kind hearted in the inside and will always be here to give you a hand… or a paw! :p

Would you like to meet him as an NPC in the game?

Check the model in 3D on sketchfab here!

You can also check my twitter (here!) to see regular updates of the development of the game!

It has been a while since I have checked this thread, but I definitely want to say that it is looking amazing so far with the art style! :D I’ll definitely have to check out your Twitter account sometime! :) Do you plan on doing frequent updates here as well? I just know that there are a lot people here who are interested in your game and would love to get regular updates here without having to go to another site. ;)

I just followed your Twitter, my name on there is Stella Blue.

I like me some wolves l'd like to meet him one day.

It's been a last few days since I checked but wow, they are looking good! I noticed there's a Steam, Switch, and Animal Crossing sticker on the luggage. I really hope that if you released this, those companies wouldn't go out to take down your game. If I may ask a silly question, what kind of art direction are you going for? Your wolf character stands out differently from the rest.

I think it'd be really cool if you could tame animals you find in the area and make them your pets.

Thanks all, it?s great to see many of you returning to contribute to this thread!

In terms of art direction, I?m aiming for a balanced mix of the previous examples; have a look at this new scene! Not final, but getting close. Still wondering about the detail level - which one do you prefer?

@MasterM64 : Thanks again! ;) I plan to keep posting on this forum with all major updates: you won?t be missing anything!

@Stella-Io : Thank you for the twitter follow! I am sure the wolf would very much like to meet you too! Fierce but kind, he will be full of surprises. I?ll write more about him soon. <3

@Shellzilla :
Thanks for the warning; logos are only used as ?easter eggs? and cultural references during development for communication. I will make it clearer in future posts :)

@Temptations : Absolutely! :D Depth and complexity haven?t nailed down yet though. What would you imagine regarding impact on gameplay?

@ZeldaJune : This would very cool indeed! I do want ?taming? in some sort of form, but more from a collection point of view. I?m not sure what role they would play as pets; do you have something in mind?

You are absolutely welcome and I am so glad to hear that because I want to see this game progress in development! :D Of the 2 art styles you mentioned, I definitely think the example on the right because I love the details it has which could be very helpful when coming up with new styles to implement in the game! :)

No problem Heline. :) Looking at both of these pictures at a first glance, it's hard to tell the difference. I prefer the one on the left because the subtle lighting on the objects help them pop out more. Need to work on that opened book though. Keep em coming!

I prefer the one on the left too. I also imagined the pets being able to do tricks if you tell them too or doing things with you like catching fish if it's big enough like if it's a wolf.

Thank you all for your feedback! I think that I?m going to aim for a style between the two, with the right amount of light and details. :)

Today I don?t have any art to post: it was a very unproductive week, I had to rest after the removal of my wisdom teeth! But I?m better now, ready to get back to work. :D

We are starting to have a lot of votes on the poll! Thanks to all! Customization is far ahead while farm development is left behind. I?m curious to know why; is it because you saw it too much in other games? In which case expectations for a player new to the genre might be different? Or maybe because management aspects do not suit you? Or just because other possibilities of the poll were more appealing!? Don?t hesitate to give me your feeling about it! :D

@ZeldaJune : Thank you very much for clarifying with an example! That?s exactly what I had in mind, though I am not sure how this could be generalised to all types of animals/pets. Something to think about...

Next, I will be focusing on animations and creating new poses to show you more about characters!

I really like variety in my games, even in stuff like flora and fauna. In HM: Animal Parade, you can tame some wild animals and they can become your pets. I already have a boar I named Inoshi, because Inoshishi (japanese for boar, I know, SO creative) wouldn't fit.

The next pet I want to tame is the penguin, which lives on an island only accessible once I buy a ticket for a boat ride. The pets differ by location, and back in town, the some animals change with the season. For example, in spring and summer I can tame a white rabbit, but in fall I can tame black and white rabbit. In spring and summer, there's a Shiba that lives by the mine cart. In fall, there is now Shiba a black brown and white Shiba. (It's a different Shiba).

So customization kinda falls under the variety catagory. It's boring to have the same stuff all the time, same clothes, same house, same crops, ect... The ability to decorate both my interior and exterior of my house, decorate my garden with whatever aesthetic I feel like, the ability to create any look is somethin that us a big seller amongst gamers, with good reason. In a way, it promotes creativity, and at the very least, gives gamers more room with choices.

@Stella-Io : Yeah I played this game too, it was a very nice feature! I totally agree about the variety, but I was a little disappointed with the lack of depth in the interactions. I?m going to think about the gameplay to see how I could integrate taming into the project and make sure pets have an actual impact. :)

Continuing on my last post, here is some work-in-progress for characters! I reworked the model so that the structure can bend more nicely at joints to help with motion. Clearly not final yet as the new model is still missing face and clothes details as well as materials, but that will be the next step before showing some nice smooth animations!

Omg yeah I think RF4 is slightly worse for interaction, yes there's variety but it literally starts to repeat itself every year in game once you complete all the other events.
