Help with the emeralds!

So each day when I'm hitting rocks a jewel comes out. You can either sell them or use them. How do I use them? Do you have to use it with Cyrus? I'm am so confused because I have no idea what they are really for.

They can be used to remake furniture and make ore furniture. Some furniture can only be remade with certain ore colours, while others can be remade with any of them.
But a lot of furniture can't be remade with any gems at all.

If you have an ore and furniture in your pockets that it can be used with, Cyrus will ask if you want to remake the furniture with the ore.
