Read this on how to get the eevee evolution that you want to evolve into. It is really quite simple.

this is actually pretty false. it is based off of eevee's last move. if it's dig, it'll be vaporeon, etc.

It worked for me but it was probably just luck. Im sure there's "proof" somewhere but I'm also sure that all that "proof" is based on a series of coincidences.

Mine worked! I nicknamed mine Rainer and got a vaporeon!

My Eevee did not have dig but became a Vaporeon sooo....

The move theory was actually proven to be false.

I recently evolved three eevees at once. I did the nickname theory and what do you know, I have all of the eeveelutions now. Not sure if I was just extremely lucky or not. But it seems to be working for just about everybody.
