Are there certain items you tend to put in each home, regardless of the theme, simply because you personally like them? For me, it would be plants and books. If you see a home full of plants and books, you know Mairen probably had a hand in it.
What about you? Any items you like using? Or do you carefully make sure each home is very distinctly different and try not to use much of the same furniture?
The first one is the casablanca lillies in the closest matching color to either the villager themself or the second/third most prominent color I use for the room design ! I adore how the flowers look and I love putting them somewhere in each house: i like to imagine it's like a housewarming gift frin the HHP gang to the villagers!
The second is framed photos of the others ! so for example, Whitney has Audie and Dobie's framed photos because I imagine that Audie is her friend and Dobie is her grandpa-- I just like the idea of the villagers having their little relationships I HC present in their home!
Finally, I always like to incorporate at least one lily of the valley in everyone's yard no real reason, just think it's neat.
It's funny you should ask this, I was thinking of asking this question here the other day!
I always put a light-switch right near the entrance. I also usually hang up their framed picture, although when you think about it it's kinda weird that they have a picture of themselves hanging up in their own home
Houseplants are a pretty common items for me as well. And I am loving the partition walls/columns.
Maybe incorporating some kind of food item? I do try to have music playing, so I use the upright speaker in the rooms but it's not because it's a favorite; it's just easier to hide and keep the immersion.
I've been slowly decorating them, but I just unlocked the ability to resize their homes (rooms? I haven't checked if you can give them extra rooms). I feel like, if I'm able to make different rooms, I'll go with a minimalistic style as it's my approach with art and design in general.
I had to stop myself putting the medium wood partition in every home as they were getting a bit samey! I do like adding plants to every room too, and their photo somewhere.
Furnishing vacation homes is kind of fun when there are different themes, so I try to use those items that will best bring to life the requested theme.
However, I do like to use plants, gyroids and glowing moss balloons. I love glowing moss balloons so much that I plan on littering an area of my island with a gazillion of them. As soon as I'm able to find the DIY, that is.
Honestly, I don't have a signature decor, because it's not about me, it's about what the client wants. If Flora wants a house full of hideous pink furniture that I detest, she'll get a house full of hideous pink furniture that I detest !!
Hello, my fellow house plant enthusiasts. I always make room for them too as I like mixing different shapes and sizes. If I feel like something is missing, it's usually some greenery.
I also use the Moroccan Footrest in everything - functional and has amazing color swatches.
Plants. Never without plants. And I noticed I always give them either a kitchen or a dining area even if they didn’t ask for it. I guess that’s how important food is to me. Lolll. I rarely give them bathrooms unless they specifically ask for them and sometimes I don’t put beds or bedrooms but there’s ALWAYS food. Gotta have food.
