Hopes for AC Switch?

1. Make the houses more interesting and detailed.
2. Have a max of 15-20 villagers in the town.
3. Make the towns much larger.
4. Allow larger town names.
5. Have bigger and more interactive public works projects. (Gym, Park, Diner, Hotel)
6. Replace the campsite with the new hotel. The hotel is a public works project unlocked after three museum upgrades (Cafe, Shop, Observatory) and is ran by Serena. It is two stories tall and features a lobby and four rooms on each floor. Any villager that is not living in the town can stay at the hotel for one day, and the hotel can have up to eight villagers in it at once. No matter how many villagers are in the hotel, you can only have one move into your town at a time. When there are the minimum amount of villagers living in your town, more guests will likely show up, but if there are the maximum amount of villagers living in your town than guests are less likely to show up. Serena works behind the desk in the lobby, but her only options of lalk are tutorials and simple conversations.
7. Bring back the observatory.
8. Make food more apart of this game. Make a town be able to hold up to four restaurant public works projects at a time. Allow a huge variety of restaurants to choose from.
9. More villager dialogue. Make weekly updates for the game that gives the villagers more dialogue.
10. Give us the option to choose what job we want to do. (Mayor, Homes Manager, Store Owner).

1.) More character space for town names and villagers.
2.) Let animal villagers have bigger houses.
3.) More than 10 villagers, maybe 20?
4.) More town layouts.
5.) MORE PWPS All of them,,,,
6.) Prevent villagers from moving ontop of patterns/rare flowers/perfect trees.
7.) Improved AI on the villagers/better dialogue/improved personality.

- More different weathers conditions: fog, hard wind, blizzards etc. And leaves flying in the wind.

- And instead of drawn paths you could have real roads, and even make curved roads. The same with water, you could make small streams without needing to draw them on the ground.

- Front and backyards for the player and animals (and a way to design also their yards somehow).

- Curtains for windows, carpets, ceiling lamps.

- A way to choose where the inhabitants of the town are allowed to move.

- More hair styles and a possibility to choose the color of your skin.

- A possibility to put items also outside, like Christmas lights on the house.

- And I still want to be a mayor or someone else who can decide about these things.

I would want all the villagers that have ever been in Animal Crossing to come back (and new ones too) and I wants all the events from previous games like the acorn festival and find a way to bring Serena back and we should get all the holidays from every region (like the bean throwing festival) and also to be able to choose if you’re in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, so seasons would be opposite.

- Cooking! Maybe we can have our own restaurant or at least help build one

- Farming. Nothing too in depth as its not a farming game. Something like you plant it and after a few days its grown and you can shake it like a tree or pull it out the ground. A dozen different veggies for the seasons, minus winter. Also, berries and a green house would be great additions!

- Would love to see a main street like the one in HHD, where there's different cafes, a hospital, school, etc. Would also love having a part in decorating them too and maybe even helping run them or having our own store.

- A harbour or pier with new shops (like a tackle shop for fishing, with new additions we can attach to our rods for different effects or to look different), maybe a carnival with stalls and some small rides, maybe claw machines that work where you can win different kinds of fortune cookies, coconut stalls, the ones where you fish up a duck for a prize, other carnival type games.

- More life! As in, birds that fly by, ducks in the ponds, seagulls at the beach, rabbits, etc that you can't catch but just find at random.

- New villager animals and personalities. Personally hoping for some cute donkey villagers o:

- New holidays/events. Maybe some kind of farmers market or something like that that comes around every couple of weeks

- New contests! Races, etc

- More minigames oh my god please

- More public work projects with less placement restrictions

- Biomes maybe?

- A train/bus/boat that takes you to new areas. Think like the island (which I'd love to have back as a bigger resort with more and new things to do) but new places such as a play park with swings etc, campsite, mall, etc

- More hairstyles, different accessories, bring back the character creation that was in HHD so we can pick our skin colour etc to start with

- Larger beach so we can actually do things with it, with rock pools that we can collect new creatures from

- Getting to decide where houses and things can go, or an entirely separate area that is purely for houses

- Front gardens like in HHD, ceiling objects as well like in HHD

- More diversity of plants

- New collectables maybe? More variety of bugs, fish, and deep sea creatures

- Different weather such as thunder, wind, light showers, heavy rain, etc

- Would also appreciate more jobs, and bringing back the home designer job! Maybe we get to decide where their house goes and how it looks, furniture placement etc.

- Ability to change your soundtrack e.g. switching from default 2019 AC music to the old New Leaf, City Folk, etc songs.

- Radio station that you can tune into to listen to KK Slider. Maybe he has special announcements or phone-in style contests at certain times? Like the ones where you call in and answer a question to win something.

- Bring back the ball from GC, with the addition of new toys! Space hoppers, pogo sticks, etc

- Ability to build and place fences and gates around the town, we need more options to customise our town in general :/

EDIT: Would also like to see flowers gardens in the game like the pocket camp, witch the addition of allotments where we can grow fruit and veggies like strawberries, cabbages, potatoes, tomatoes etc.

Things I do want:
- EVERYONE IS HERE! Return of (nearly) all the cut villagers; given NL and WA managed to bring back half of the remaining ones and there's only 73 left to bring back; why not do that? (Apart from Meow, Bow and Nindori, they're promo villagers so idk how that'd work exactly.) (Champ'd be a DLC villager, though.)
- Bigger towns!
- 15+ villagers in a town
- More PWPs, maybe even have some tied to amiibo
- Return of the rest of the cut Gamecube-era furniture, including the stuff from Doubutsu no mori + and e+
- Return of the leafy things
- BRING BACK THE PINE CRICKET
- Keep the rugs, but also keep the carpet and rug combos from older games?
- Ceiling furniture, window styles and curtains from HHD
- A tool storage facility
- The long-wanted return of the aerobics from the GameCube game
- Bright Nights, but with an actual purpose this time
- Have all Nintendo consoles with a specific minigame: for instance, Super Tortimer for the NES
- Private island like in e+: have a bungalow for every player to do what they want with
- Bank card, but for everything
- House plots?
- A little bit more characterisation, mainly for Sable as I was never big on Blathers.

Things I don't want:
- Biomes. The whole point of Animal Crossing is that it's a forest village full of animals (hence the name Animal Forest in Japan), making it that it's not set specifically in a village really overcomplicates things
- Anything that makes it into Animal Suburb rather than Animal Crossing, come to think of it: six million single-use shops, hotels, restaurants, malls, bakeries... basically all the kind of stuff that turned up in HHD. Doesn't sit right with me.
- THE RETURN OF THE FLEA MARKET
- ditto La-Di-Day
- overly nasty villagers to return. (Their personalities do vary a bit from game to game, and we're basically just going off of six names from a game guide published by a mediocre game guide company and two names from a prerelease scan that we, as a fandom, never bothered to localise. They don't have to strictly adhere to certain personalities, and... would you be openly rude to the mayor? Sure, the dialogue does repeat but... that's LITERALLY ALWAYS THE CASE. I found an entirely new bit of dialogue about cranky villagers and cicada shells in NL recently, and I'VE BEEN PLAYING IT FOR 5 YEARS and guess what? IT'S ENTIRELY IN CHARACTER, AND REALLY BLOODY CHARMING)

I second of all these don'ts (except for the last one, which is one of my major hopes for the new game. I want them to flesh out the personalities more and give the snooty and grumpy villagers some of their sass back, nobody can convince me that they didn't get watered down over the years, especially so in NL. :p).

The biome one I agree on the most.
I understand all the people who want different biomes because it would create more diversity for multiplayer... but I don't think it's likely, and it'd be kind of weird to me, honestly. Maybe if they stick to the forest-vibe and just do one forest on flat land VS one forest in the mountains... but other than that I really can't see it, at least not to the extent people want?
Like the user above pointed out, the game is called Animal Forest in Japan.
One of my hopes is actually that they're making the village more forest-y. XD
But I wouldn't be mad if they actually included different biomes.

Eh, I'm not entirely opposed to it. In some ways, it'd be nice: having more dialogue'd really pep up the place immensely. I just don't want downright nasty villagers, and me being grumpy about it is honestly more a kind of frustration with the "WAH IT ISN'T LIKE THE GAMECUBE ONE" comments that get thrown at literally every AC game since (as someone who lives in European territory where the GameCube wasn't as big a thing and where it was more about Wild World and such, it can be downright confusing. But I first got the first game 7 years after it launched in America, and about 4 and a half years after it was released in Europe, so...)

Sure, I'd like to see some of the older stuff return as there's definitely still a lot of good stuff to mine from it, but... it's very obviously a game series trying to find itself. Try and enjoy Animal Crossing for what it is, not what it was, otherwise you're never going to be happy.

Yeah, I totally get that point of view too. I'm definitely guilty of being one of the nostalgia-ridden ones who have to mention ACGC in every breath, and I can see how ridiculous that can be. :p Change in video games is a good thing for sure.

I just have my frustrations with the villager personalities and dialogues being so... tame? overly friendly? in comparison to the older games because I feel like the change stems from a fear of upsetting kids (or rather: parents) and the thought that "a game that targets a younger audience (alongside teens and adults)" has to mean "everything and everyone is cuddly and friendy", so they made everything more lighthearted in an already very lighthearted game. Maybe they simply prefer this direction for the series and that's alright, but I personally just have my qualms with it. Not that I want all the villagers to be mean jerks or anything, but it feels sort of lame to have all the animals regardless of personality type like you right off the bat, you know? It's not even like the grumpy or snooty villagers were really that bad in the previous games.

Overall it just feels (to me, of course) like they forgot to put some of the "spice" into the villagers, kind of like they toned down Phyllis' rudeness, or Blather's blathering, or made Resetti optional because they thought he would upset too many kids. And not gonna lie, he really did put some respectful fear into me as a kid playing ACGC - especially that one time the screen turned black for a second as if he had deleted your save file - but that was part of the experience, to have very likeable characters and not so likeable ones. And it wasn't bad enough to give you actual nightmares or anything, else you were probably just too young to even play the game imo. I don't know, those are some changes that just kind of made the NPCs feel... a little less interesting.

But yeah, overall I'm of course also hoping for a brand new experience this time, and will happily welcome any new features (... well, as long as they're actually good obviously)! The villager personality thing is not a deal breaker for me, but I do hope they at least get plenty of new dialogue this time around!

I'd like for it to tell if it was turned off intentionally (like you didn't get what you want) or the console ran out of power (though it might not be a problem with the switch since the dock just charges it...)

I would love to see the return of villager personalities from HHD. The ones from gamecube were...pretty harsh, and the personalities from the other games were pretty bland. The HHD personalities were perfect.

Yeah, I'm kinda weird with HHD as a game but the personalities were spot on.

I would like to see the return of sending letters to friends without needing to visit the town, like in City Folk.

From the Population Growing I would like to see the Dump return and the lilies on the water.

With multiplayer being bigger now, definitely return of the balls from Population Growing.

Outside camera controls, let us rotate the camera like inside so we can see everything.

What would be nice is being able to allow other players submit stuff to the museum. Me and my friends always want to help each other but can't since only those living in the town can donate. Open up the ability to donate to visitors.

Also the bigger towns with more villagers, bigger names would be nice. I like the idea of merging City Folk's City, and the mainstreams from New Leaf and HHD into a big area. But I also like the little camping area as well, maybe it needs to get more features.

Also, while I'm at it:
- K.K. Slider live bootlegs like in e+
- Be able to give the raccoon clock red hands like the one on the bottom floor of Nookingtons
- The return of Nookling points

this is a thread i made nearly a year ago on what i'd love to see :3

i love being mayor of the town, so i hope that's something that stays. i think it'd be fun to choose what type of town you could live in! like the default town we get in NL, including some other options! like..

  • a beach town! maybe it's an island like on tours and you take a boat to a mainland, or it's just right on the beach and the "main street" would be like a pier/dock area with shops and stuff! i think something like that would be cute.
  • maybe towns where it's one season for majority of the year. like how in HHD you can choose the weather and season of where you place a house, you can choose to live in a town where it's often rainy, or the summers/winters are shorter lived, or a mountainous town where it's always snowy and cold. maybe even a dry arid type area. it would be true to the real world where some locations are more prone to certain types of weather than others or have unbalanced seasons.
  • town meetings? like, you can go to isabelle and call for a town meeting, and you and your villagers can discuss things regarding the town... maybe as a way to see how you can improve the town status, or an extra chance to get PWP requests? maybe you can also set up custom events, like "Hide & Seek Wednesdays" or something!

another thing that i actually think about sometimes... are there no such things as tides in acnl? it's kind of funny to think about, because a lower tide would be a bit of a way from the beach ramp, and high tide would have waves crashing against the walls and close the beach for the hour(s) it's active. i think it could add more variety to the day (though be inconvenient if there's high tide when you were planning to fish or go to the island). but to make up for that, maybe when it's low tide there's a chance to dig up things on the beach that washed up, since there's more sand to explore. maybe there could be special seashells or creatures that you dig up during low tide.
