Lmao thank god I didn't give myself a headache on this one, no way I would've been able to guess right with this outline xD
((also joining team "where tf was that handbag"))
Alright some people here wanted tactics and we're in between mirrors now so I'm going to share mine, but in a spoiler because it's going to be a long one. This one is specifically for mirrors like #2 and #4 where we didn't really have colours, only outlines. It's also a slow method, and doesn't guarantee you will find a clear answer.
What I personally do when I don't immediately see it (which is every time) is open the image in an editor, this time I'll be using paint.net because that's a relatively simple program and it's more than enough for what I want to do with the image. This allows me to zoom right in, look for possible edges, and draw lines on top.
The amazing thing about programs like paint.net is that they allow you to work with layers. Think of them as transparent plastic sheets that you can draw on and stack on top of each other, but digital. This allows me to put the original mirror in one layer and simply toggle that one on and off. The outline I just drew is so much clearer against the white background!
Unfortunately, not every part of the outline is going to be easy to spot. But by starting from a spot where I'm certain the outline exists and trying to follow it, I can make a pretty good guess. I also try to look for difference in texture, as you can hopefully see the texture in the pink circles matches where the stuff in the purple one seems smoother.
When I can't really tell what's going on, I like to change my line colour to orange or red to remind myself not to search too hard for those features. For example, I saw some suspicious red pixels in the Whispy Woods mirror that ended up being a part of the character in the end, but definitely not something I would assume to be useful information.
Eventually, this will leave me with something I can work with.
Now comes the hard part: actually figuring out what it is we're looking at. Definitely human style legs. Probably a handbag. Everything up at the top is a mystery to me, but I have a good guess already:
I have two approaches to finding characters:
One is googling huge collages of nintendo characters and praying that it pays off (it did for Whispy Woods! I saw potential tree in my outline, then in the image below, so I googled 'Nintendo tree character', one of the results mentioned Kirby so I changed it to 'Kirby tree character' and that was that).
The better approach, if you can pull it off, is to look for characters of a specific game. Again, what we have here is a character with human style legs and a handbag. By proportions, I guessed that directly above the handbag would be a dress, above that a hairstyle, then finally the head. This rules out a lot of characters and games.
Mario has human characters but they are generally more chubby, and the dress style didn't seem to fit. Fire emblem had a lot of human characters, but the art style used there is more elaborate and you usually see those characters with swords and axes, not handbags. This is the point where knowing a lot of game series, rather than individual titles really helps a lot.
I eventually decided that pokemon trainers were a good option to explore. But I checked the female trainers and it wasn't any of them. Then I checked the gym leaders, still nope. I googled for pokemon champions, and audibly gasped. I've seen some people confused as to how people can be so sure they know the answer, well, this is how:
Enjoy. Thank you for listening to my TED talk, this will be on the test and I expect all of you to guess the next mirror correctly. <3

Using a drawing program for the mirrors really does help; It might not be the fastest but if you know what you're looking for it can make finding the answer a breeze:
Not everyone will be fortunate enough to be in my position, but in my case, once you see certain parts of the mirror, it can click instantly as to who it might be. For example, once I saw the purse on this mirror I knew right away it was Diantha.

Exactly! It really helps you see through the funky patterns and colours, sometimes even enough to recognise what you're looking at.
Unfortunately I didn't know the character, I think I lost interest in X/Y before I reached the elite 4. Either way I probably would not have remembered her.
If you successfully guessed the mirror, you should see an Accepted label applied to your submission in the Private Contest and Event Submission Board soon. I will post when this has been completed and tickets will be distributed to Accepted entires later.
Okay, haha sorry for bothering you about it I just wondered cause people kept posting and I'm after all 6 hours ahead of Fair Time. I hope I was right at least lool.
Haha I also made the outline in photoshop, but still it was hard to figure out. I even thought Princess Ruto from Ocarina of Time But she has no handbag ofcourse, but also searching with the handbag characters didn't help much.
Found a list with all Nintendo characters, but I was really about to give up because it took so much time. I just thought "ok I scroll through 2 more pages and then it's done"... and there she was!!!
I didn't see the bag at all! I was about to guess it was Lucina from Fire Emblem, but I'm glad I got that wrong since I missed the deadline to submit. I kept thinking the deadline was at 11:59pm FT haha.
