How are Bell Tree Bells earned?

I know you earn them by posting, but i was wondering if anyone has a more specific guide to how? As in, how many points can you earn from doing what, and how many points doing things costs you etc? Thanks in advance!

By posting. You get like 2 bells for long posts and lose like 10 for any edits.

I checked my record of bells earned and spent, and it always seems like ANY time I make an edit I lose around 10 or 12 bells.

What. This is very untrue. Editing deducts Bells but you earn the deducted bells for the new post. So editing doesn't affect anything really.
