Nintendo is officially in their ✨flop✨ era. wait a minute thats too iconic they are in their 💀flop era💀

Wow the Switch 2 edition of Breath of The Wild does NOT include the DLC, you have to pay for that separately as well. Not to mention that new amiibo now cost $20 PER figure or $30 for Street Fighter. This is actually insane, I didn't think it would get worse 😭 yeah no, I went from maybe buy the system in a few years to a definite no, I'll keep playing my 3DS and Wii U libraries.....

I've really appreciated how Nintendo has kept things relatively simple and straightforward over the years, compared to how anti-consumer some of the gaming publishers have become. It sure does feel like Nintendo is kind of losing their way over the last few weeks with some of these announcements

60 bucks is my hard limit, I might not get into new Nintendo games if 70-80 becomes the new standard.

I don't mind the console being more expensive, I paid much more for my Steam Deck, but game prices are absurd.

I think we need to wait and see, there is a chance they may change the prices in the future. I know some of you may not remember but there was a huge amount of backlash when the either 3DS or DS came out it was really expensive and there was an uproar and the prices did change. I do not know or think that will happen this time but you never know. I have seen some screenshots of games being in the 50s-60s depending on the game/maker of game. I guess we will see but I expect from here on out all games from even different consoles are going to be expensive.
I know this post was created before all of the uproar about tariffs. But it is almost a guarantee that game prices will go up and not down. With anywhere from 18-46% tariffs being slapped on the countries we get the most imports from it is probably just a given. Now that there is a 90 pause on the tariffs, I’d say anyone wanting to buy Switch 2 games should get them before that 90 day window ends. The challenge with that of course is many of the games aren’t slated to come out until closer to the holidays and into 2026. So it’s anyone’s guess how outrageous prices are going to get.

didn't know what to vote bc I do think it's insane and stupid, the prices they're charging, but I would still like to buy a new console at some point. I really want to upgrade from my current Switch, because mine is the older model and has an atrocious battery life (like less than 3 hours). I would love to wait and see if they drop the price like they did with the 3DS, and I don't mind waiting because I'm not in a hurry to upgrade (I barely play my Switch even now).

as for the games, I already didn't like buying Switch games at $60, and odds are that as long as backward compatibility is a thing on the Switch 2, I likely won't be buying any Switch 2 games (at least, unless something comes along that I need to get, which is extremely unlikely). $80-90 price tag? that's a hard pass from me.

I don’t mind it. It’s normal.

What used to cost $60 in 2017 now costs $79. So there you go. Inflation.

It’s OK. The average take home has also increased in a similar fashion since 2017

Curious how everyone is feeling about the massive increase in price for 1st party Switch games?

I purchased the Nintendo Switch game console—if I have this correctly remembered—in November 2017.

I am an Animal Crossing person. I am in the United States. I played New Leaf from when I purchased it, and a 3DS game console, in August 2013, through March 2020. Timing, with having taken that break, was with the release of New Horizons on March 20, 2020.

I am an adult. And I tend to get very involved with Animal Crossing with, of course, the decorating. It is also a game which is designed not to have an end. You, the player, decide when you are done.

The design element of the game, I sense, will get more and more involving as time continues to move forward with each following edition of Animal Crossing. That is fine with some people; others, not so much.

I have to decide for myself.

I will not purchase Nintendo Switch 2 without getting a sense with the next Animal Crossing of what that next editiom will be like. My guess is that the next edition will get its release in 2027. That is…seven years after New Horizons (which was seven to eight years after New Leaf; there was the September 2015 Happy Home Designer). It took two to three years after the release of the Nintendo Switch game console, from whatever month in 2017, for New Horizons. So, this is why I am guessing 2027.

In addition to New Horizons, there are two games I very enjoyed on Nintendo Switch: Super Mario Odyssey, which I purchased with the console in 2017, and Super Mario Kart 8.

I will not purchase Nintendo Switch 2 when it becomes available. Price is 150-percent higher than what I paid for Nintendo Switch. I bought that game console for $300. I later bought another one with an OLED screen for $350. The cost of $450, for Nintendo Switch 2, would have to be for a console—and with that would also be the quality of the games—that is phenomenal for me to do it; that is, the pricing on the console and each individual game (of interest to me).

I watched numerous content creators, in their response to all this by Nintendo, and I have learned from them. I did not know there are other game consoles which are considered superior in technology and design. One that was cited was PlayStation. I am not a gamer. So, I did not know.

I must decide whether these terms, as set here in 2025, by Nintendo are acceptable to me. They are not, My answer, here in April 2025, is “No!”
