Not sure if I am just missing it, but I cannot figure out how to search in a specific thread. I looked at the FAQ and tried to follow the instructions there but still cannot find it. I have tried looking all over the page. The top of the thread view page only shows "Thread Tools" and "Rate this Thread." "Thread Tools" then only shows "Show Printable Version", "Email this Page…", and "Subscribe to this Thread…", nothing about searching. The only other thing I can find is the search bar for the whole site. Would there be a way to maybe show with screenshots where it is located or how I might fix this if it's not supposed to be this way?

I've been able to search since I've had 40 posts, so that debunks you needing a certain amount of posts unless it's under 40 lol

Edit: just went on one of my threads and I could search it, I'm on mobile but I doubt that hinders it. Maybe it's just a glitch rn, tbt has been acting funny recently, freezing, double posting, ect...

this just means that we have confirmation that anyone with 40 posts or more can search in threads
not that people with under 40 posts should be able to
of course, as mentioned, this could just be an unintended glitch caused by the software moving preparations as well
I believe we had an issue with guests and bots abusing the search function which caused the site to crash some years ago. I might be misremembering but if that's right then it would explain why a limit has been imposed.
New users are in a unique user group. Once you've made more posts (I don't know the exact criteria - but a quick search shows a user who joined very recently is already into the regular user group so it doesn't take a lot) you will unlock access to all features.

well, as an update, 7 posts doesn't do it either
edit: it has randomly started working now. not sure what might have caused that, unless it's 8 posts, or maybe viewing a certain number of pages? because i just spent forever painstakingly clicking through each page of the thread i wanted to search and using my browser page search function aaaa welp ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All I said was I had 40 posts and was able to use the search function. Which proves that 40 posts you can use the search function, it's possibly lower but I can't confirm that, l thought pancake would find this information useful considering 40 posts is a low threshold to reach. And you took it upon yourself to just completely and utterly fail at comprehending a post that was not even directed at you. I'm not on an animal crossing forum to fight with strangers, re-read the post, understand it or move on with your life. Pancakes issue has since resolved itself at, it seems 8 posts. Good to know for the future.
