Was looking at villager tier lists for New Horizons which led me here, then figured I'd make an account to buy villagers I wanted for NMT and wonder what the heck TBT was and here I am...
The forum scene was a big thing for me back in 2006-2010. I used to frequent Nintendo-based forums with Nintendo’s NSider being the biggest one before it closed. The Bell Tree was mentioned on one of the spin-off forums one day and, as I originally used forums as a place to chat about Animal Crossing and play with others, a forum dedicated mostly to Animal Crossing seemed like the perfect fit.
Tbh I don't remember how I found this site but it was most likely similar to others in that I probably googled something related to new leaf and stumbled here in '17 but I never actually posted or interacted with anyone until March of this year
I was a sheltered child and wasn’t allowed to browse the Internet too much until I was 16ish (in 2016, which is the year I joined TBT). I had been playing AC:NL since 2013, but I only discovered the concept of villager tier lists after gaining more online freedom. While Googling tier lists I got a result for one from TBT (I think it was by a user named hound00m or something similar). I was immediately fascinated by the community and lurked for a few weeks before finally joining. It was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Nearly 5 years as a member and I still log into TBT every day. I’ve met so many wonderful friends and the plentiful events are super engaging! Not to mention the deep and endless pit that is collectibles lmao.
Some time after New Leaf came out I was looking for Tutu over on Animal Crossing Community and some of the people there mentioned another dedicated Animal Crossing forum called Bell Tree,so I had a look.Bell Tree was(and still is) a lot more user friendly than ACC so I joined up.At the time both forums were very busy but ACC never really progressed so I pretty much stopped going there.
I think I was searching for ACNL news one night and stumbled across it. I could have sworn I found it right before the release, but obviously not based on my join date. One of my fondest memories, though, is visiting different people on launch day to collect all the fruit.
Someone on my buddy list on ACC mentioned this site when we were talking, especially noting how active it is compared to ACC. So I decided to look around and even though I'm not a "new" member anymore, this place still feels like such a breath of fresh air compared to the 2008-esque look of ACC
l needed villagers and my sister would go on this website to buy them for me and then 3 years later l joined because l don't think my sister would want to always help me all the time.
I had already been a lurker on the site since 2017 but decided to join when I wanted to get Bluebear for my town and trade with others. I was late to the new leaf party and hadn't played wild world in years so I stumbled across a lot of pages on the forums with probably the most informative info out of anywhere else that I searched. It seemed very friendly and gave off good vibes in general. Once I wanted to start trading with people I recognised this site and thought "yeah, seems like a pretty decent forum to me" and joined. I have since really enjoyed my time here.
I really just wanted some fruit, but I really didn’t like the idea of trading with strangers. I found a site where you traded kind of anonymously and that was such a nightmare that I don’t even want to speak of it. I decided to sign up for this site because I figured it was a safer way to trade, but I really had no intention of staying for very long. I ended up liking it and staying because I enjoyed talking to others.
I found this site because I looked up to @jvgsjeff when I was younger! He was an amazing AC blogger that honestly impacted my life. He recommended and talked about this site and it’s usefulness for trading and such. I’m so glad I decided to join.
I first came across TBT around summer 2006. I was looking up something to do with AC:WW, but I've no memory of what. I specifically tried to find it again a couple of days before AC:NL came out so that I would have people to play with. Never would've guessed I'd still be here eight years later (and staff for seven of those years)!
10~ years ago I remembered hearing about it on ACC (which at the time was the largest AC forum) and I did check it out a bit but never joined. Then last year someone made a thread on here about a YouTube video I made on the new AC manga that had come out, and when I checked my analytics for the video it showed a few views from this site. Remembered it from years ago and decided to check it out once more and was surprised by how much the site had grown, so I decided to finally join!
I just started playing Animal Crossing a couple of weeks ago, New Horizons, and I would search for information about things that I found, or how to do things. Some of the results ended up at animal crossingworld.com, and I liked how that website was laid out the best, so I looked for a forums link from there which led me here.
