How do art contests work here?

As in an official event or one created by a member in the museum?

If its an official contest, people draw their picture and post it in a secret board
the mods will vote for their top 10 or whatever, and the ones that get 3/4+ mod votes go to public voting
then there is a poll for the public

Since contests on tbt are pretty open (you just make your own) I'd just say to make sure you include these things:

  • museum shop > contest prefix
  • rules/how to enter
  • topic of what has to be drawn/references/options
  • prizes if you do (you probably should if you want people to enter lol)
  • end date
  • a current entries spoiler of names/pieces to keep track

Not having all of these are absolutely necessary but I'd recommend them for making a good contest (some of them kind of are tho)
but yeah there's not really any official contest rules or anything :0

...It honestly just seems to me like art contests are people's ways of getting loads of free art of their mayors, OCs, and whatnot. If you only have one or two winners, but twenty people participate...

I dunno. That's how it strikes me.

Yeah but the prizes are normally really large. (A lot of the time it's much cheaper just to order from art shops).

I remember a giveaway where all the prizes added up to something crazy likr 15k but there were no where near 20 entries

This is always how I've felt. I've seen some with prizes of 1000-2000 TBT and yet they're getting art from really expensive artists where the total would be way more than that.

On top of that, many hosts have "disappeared" after their contest, leaving everyone skeptical of them now.
