So my vision has been getting worse over time.
I've had glasses for a few years now but I never wore them as I could easily see anything not far away.

My vision got worse so I got new glasses but still didn't really wear them.

During lockdown I've been working at home. Facing a wall. So nothing far away.

I had to go back to work, and there I don't face the wall.
Seeing the distance above the screen after a few hours made me want to throw up.
After blocking it out I felt fine.

I've been trying to wear my glasses since but I hate them so much.
I can see my frames at the edge of my vision.
They feel weird on my face.

How do you not hate having these things on your face?
Constantly sliding off.
Feeling heavy.
Seeing rims. (I wear big frames so I doubt I can get bigger to sort this)

(Not even mentioning the eye pain and headaches as apparently these go away after a while. But I really want to take these things off for that alone. I hate them so so much)

Edit: I also hate how glases change distance.
What used to seem far away now seems a lot closer so I don't know what's what any more.

If I look at something and move my glasses on and off my face, the size and distance it is from me changes.
Its a lot to get used to

I personally love wearing my glasses bc they bring out my eyes (kinda like someone wearing mascara). I never have problems with mine falling off, and even if they slip it's only a tiny bit and I can push them right back up. I also have pretty thin metal frames so unless im actually thinking about it i dont notice the frames in my peripheral vision at all. also also I wear bifocals so idek if contacts would work for me lol.

after wearing them for a week or so your eyes will adjust to them, it's always weird at first. if they keep falling off maybe talk to whoever prescribed them to you. also you don't have to wear them all the time. luckily my vision is just bad enough that I need them to drive so I can get by doing reg stuff (like chores or watching tv) without wearing them. unless you need them for every single thing you do (like my dad does) then you can periodically take them off.

if you really hate them enough you could try getting contacts, that way you don't have to deal with a frame. I've personally never worn contacts so I don't have any advice there.

I have the same issue, I can't see things far away all that well. Staying home so much, I stopped wearing my glasses, or would only wear them when I had a headache (that I probably got from not wearing them), or when I needed to drive. I just had my eye exam and decided to go with contacts. I'm going to go ahead and assume you don't want contacts, but have you tried rimless glasses? Those were the ones I wore before my contacts and I liked that I couldn't see the bottom of the rim. Or if you like your glasses or don't want to worry about buying new ones, take yours to get the fit adjusted. It actually makes a huge difference for me!

Me too but I guess I meant that since they're meant to work from a certain distance from your eyes, I'm constantly pushing them that half inch back up my face haha
you don't have to wear them all the time
I really hope I can get there
But for now, if I don't put them on first thing, I forget to do it, and then I really need them if I leave the house.

I wish I could but I'm awful when it comes to stuff in my eyes.
If I try to touch one right now, I just can't.
Not even close.
My eyes closed before I could ever.

I really wish I could do contacts but I just can't do with touching my eye. I've tried touching it before and I just can't even get my finger close before I close it.

But im glad to see I'm not alone in this vision mess and how lock down changed how we view our own vision.

I really had no idea it got so bad until I felt ill due to it.
Until then it was just short bursts so it was like "sure I can't read that sign but I never wanted to so who cares"

I have the same issue and my partners constantly have to remind me to wear them. They just hurt my head and they slide down constantly and I always have to clean them or they'll annoy me. I just HAVE to wear them to see without destroying my eyes.

My dog destroyed my glasses cleaner so they are super foggy now as well.
And nothing else seems to clean them.
Theyre just the worst aren't they!

I‘ve been wearing glasses for years and I’ve gotten used to them (I’m practically blind without them), but I can see how it’s not for everyone. If you’re bothered with seeing the frame of your glasses, you can try to opt for bigger glasses with thin rims? Hopefully they somehow help you. Also no doubt this pandemic has been really bad for eyesight, what with being at home constantly on gadgets to study/work/etc.

Omg no please don’t touch your eyes 😭 Having your finger on your eye is WAY different from contacts. Contacts were meant to be lubricated so they won’t irritate your eyes, so as long as you follow your doctor’s instructions on how to wear contacts and clean them, you should be fine. At times contacts can irritate your eyes, but that’s why there are eyedrops to relieve the irritation.

i've been wearing glasses pretty much my entire life. after a while you just get used to it, the weird zoomed in feeling goes away and you eventually you dont even notice the frames. it just takes time

Regarding cleaning, I found that glasses cleaners never quite do the job for me, and the wiping clothes made for glasses suck. What I do is take a wet paper towel, wipe that on my glasses so they are wet then take a microfiber cloth (the kind used to clean cars with) and wipe off the smudges+water with that. Works super well. This isn't the best option cause the paper towel could scratch your lenses, but it does get all the smudged stuff off.

If glasses are giving you a headache, maybe wear them for short periods of time, and slowly work up from that? So your eyes can slowly get used to them. I have poor vision, anythin more than a foot away from my face gets blurry. At home I don't wear my glasses unless I need to, like when I eat or play videogames on my TV. But everywhere else I need to where then or I will walk and bump into things constantly.

Depending on what your glasses are now, if they are the metal frame with the little nose thingies on them, you can slightly adjust them. If they are a plastic frame, I had to take mine back to the optometrist so their machine could straighten out the legs. You can also bend the legs yourself if that is givin you an issue. My glasses now will not sit flat on a table cause they are so crooked, but they are like that to accommodate my face. Which is apparently quite crooked.

I think the most annoying part for me is that they're not always needed.
Like right now I could see this phone I'm typing on just fine. It would be slightly lower quality vision, but I would see what I'm doing regardless.

That's not to say I'm jealous of not being able to see without them as such.
Of course I would rather be somewhat okay without them, than not be.
But it does add to the frustration of having these on my head at times I could technically see without them.
Omg no please don’t touch your eyes
Don't worry I don't mean it literally.
Just like if I went to do it, my eyes would close before I even come close.
Like I cant do eye drops. They just hit my eye lids even if I try to hold them back. It's really horrible for me to try it.

Theyre already the biggest I saw and the rims aren't that thick.
I'm hoping I tune them out over time.

I notice them most on the top, but when I look properly, I see the distance is the same top to bottom p

I've had glasses my whole life and I'm almost legally blind, so I have to wear them all the time. I am used to it by now and I imagine you will get used to it the more you wear them. To help them not slide off, sounds like you might need to get the nose pads adjusted if your glasses have them, or if you have plastic frames maybe they don't fit your nose properly. I have a really narrow nose so it's hard to find plastic frames that fit my nose properly. If the bridge is touching your nose, they don't fit properly - only the nose pad part should be touching your nose. They make little pads you can stick to your glasses with adhesive that can help raise them up if you want to try that. I also think maybe clear frames would work better for you, or ones with a less thick edge. For heaviness, again you could get lighter weight frames or try getting ultra thin lenses. At the end of the day though, you probably just have to get used to it.

Definitely try to look around and shop for better frames. Take into consideration the size of your face. If it slides off often, it's not a good fit so get something smaller. If you find it too heavy, there are plenty of eyewear shops that offer frames made with ultra-light material (I have 850 eye grade but my glasses still weigh like a plastic toy). Seeing the rims in the side of your vision is something that's not going to go away but like what others have said, you just get used to it in the same way as your nose is always in your field of vision but your brain is able to ignore it.

A more expensive alternative is lasik surgery. I've been told it's worth the money!

I'm unsure on this
My frames have no nose pads at all.
When I look up and down, the gap in my vision is equal to both. So an ideal fit I guess.
But I look up a lot more than down so I see the up a lot more than down.

My lenses are huge. I rise them up to meet my upwards glase and I can no longer see down at all.
And really, they're big lenses.

I guess I just have to get used to them but with a heaviness on my face, vision being distorted so I can't tell what's far and not any more, glasses sliding down my face if I lean over...
Its been a hard few days trying to make them a constant. Not just when I feel my vision is bad.

Is the bridge of your glasses (aka the part that goes over your nose between your eyes) touching your nose? That's how you know if they fit your nose properly - that part should not be touching your nose. If it is, they don't fit properly and that's probably why they're sliding off.

Your glasses would probably be less heavy if you got smaller frames.

ive needed glasses ever since I was 6. Had an accident that ruined my vision. When I was 17 I got contacts and have worn them almost every day since (unless I'm not going out much, then I just wear glasses). Since the pandemic, I've relied on my contacts more, as I find masks fog up my glasses way to often

I think you get used to glasses after a while, and not wearing them will hurt your vision in the long run. I'd recommend looking into contacts if you could. they require more maintenance, but you won't have to worry about frames :)

They don't touch my nose.
Theyre like half an inch above it.

And my vision, or lack their of, due to frames ending, is equal both up and down

But I value my vision looking up so much more..
So it's a lot more noticeable.

I have tried putting them where I want them, and it leaves a huge gap downwards

Yeah, then IDK, it seems like it's just something you have to adjust to. It is really difficult at first! But it'll come with time. Or you could try talking to your eye doctor, they might have better advice.

Honestly hearing I will get used to it, if Honest advice, is good for me

I just want to know im not going to suffer forever

I don’t wear glasses, so I’m not even going to try and understand. I was fortunate, but I can only imagine how difficult glasses can be. Can you wear contacts?

I'm too sensitive to eye stuff to do that
So it's glasses the whole way
