The way I say Pate rhymes with gate. I read somewhere it's actually pronounced "Pat-tay." No matter what, I think I'll still say it the same way I've been saying it all along, but I'm curious what you guys think. :p

Pate - not P?t?.

I think its pronounced pat as in "pat the dog." I think Pat-tay would be the one with the accent, but I could be wrong.

Pat-Tay is with an accent. I pronounce it to rhyme with gate.
Though I do think his name is a play on p?t? as it's made from goose or duck fat.

I'd say it's pronounced Pat-tay. In Americanized English, there doesn't necessarily need to be an accent on the e. Cafe is an acceptable spelling of caf?, as in the chain restaurant Hard Rock Cafe, which lacks the accent on the e. Rhyming Pate with gate sounds exceptionally weird to me, lol.

The AC Wiki says that her name is derived from the word p?t? and "should most likely be pronounced "pa-tay" but I think either way is fine.Perhaps her name has a double meaning because pate is also the top or crown of the head and might be referring to Pate's hairdo which covers the top of her head.

I think it mainly refers to p?t? which is a mixture of cooked ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste, as duck p?t? is one of the more popular versions.

I have always pronounced it like Pate/gate/mate. They would've added the accents if it was meant to sound like Pat-ay.

I've never had this villager, but I'd say it as Pah-tay. Idk if they necessarily would've added the accent, like other people are saying, because like Nayab said we don't usually bother to put an accent on cafe but it's not pronounced caff is it? Plus payt just sounds weird to me. *shrug*

Actually in the UK it is pronounced cafe. I think they probably would have added the accent if they wanted the accent on the name - but one of the great things is that the whole of AC is open to interpretation. :)
