how good are you at saving money?

i am so bad at saving money.

once i get pocket cash & don't need any essentials for the time being, i try to hold on to it but i end up binge spending it on like, really excessive & put together birthday presents (im currently already shopping for my bfs bday coming up in one month, and every item has space-theme and its totalling around $150 rn) or clothes for myself that i dont need bc i have enough of... i almost spent like $150 on clothes the other day but backed out because after the shipping was added, the total cost went up like 30%

its like my fetish or high or something i dont need drugs i just need to spend money

i cant wait to get a stable full-time job so then spending $150 is like almost nothing and i can feel less guilty lmaooo

what about you? also uncontrollable spenders what are some of the most pointless things youve purchased recently? i have a flipping 5-bag set of space-freezed ice cream in my cart right now...

I wouln't say I'm good with saving money...only because I have no money to save. About 80 to 90 percent of my budget goes to rent, bills and groceries. I'm lucky if I have game money or the money go out with people...and actually pay for myself afterward.

Sounds like most women.

I hate spending money, so I don't buy anything unless I really want it, or need it.
Especially when it comes to clothes, why buy more when I got a wardrobe full of perfectly fine clothes, stop wasting money people.

**** off

That's quite a claim, I am no social justice warrior, if you find that racist, or sexist then you got issues, but you can deal with that without me.

Hey, remember me? The guy who called you out because you said black face isn't racist. Well, I'm here again to tell you that your statement was sexist against woman.

I\m simply implying women tend to love emphasis on that, to shop, and spend money, I've never seen a man go shopping without a clear goal in mind, whereas women love to go shopping just for the sake of doing it, because they tend to love that activity, whereas men tend to dread doing it, there's a reason there's benches within shops, it's for the men to sit while waiting around in purgatory as their partner looks around for stuff you don't need.

I'm not saying women can't learn the "skill" of not spending money, but that's gonna be a lot harder to learn when you love doing it, and especially when you go window shopping, just makes you more likely to buy something you'll never need, or even use just because it was fun in the spur of the moment.

And stereotypes come around for a reason, they're built on truths, although yes often exaggerated, never the less the truth still lies in them, and yes I will "perpetuate" this "stereotype" that I've seen being true for as long as I've lived.
You can hide from reality, but you can't remove it, not that you should want to anyways, imagine the economy without it, would be dreadful, and sometimes those useless items are cute, and do end up as good decorations.

That’s funny because out of all the people I know, the men are the ones who can’t seem to stop shopping and wasting money. So I’ve never seen this stereotype you speak of. I’ve definitely heard it, but I’ve seen men waste just as much money. Also I’ve been working in the finance industry for a while now and I’ve had more unprepared men come in to my office worrying about their retirement and savings than women. I don’t doubt there’s A LOT of women who love to shop and can’t save money, but there’s also just as many irresponsible and unprepared men.

Your original reply with that whole “sounds just like a woman” crap, made you sound very pretentious and pompous. Maybe you didn’t mean to come off like that, but that’s how it looks.

No I don't remember you, but you seem to be one of the people who can't read, because you clearly missed the point of the message, I said wearing black makeup is not racist, if a Japanese woman wants to dress up as Sombra from OverWatch and puts on a spray tan then that's not racist, sometimes it's okay to use the brain you've been given.
If you kids wants to keep derailing the conversation at hand then that's on you.

Now that's actually interesting, if you don't mind me asking, what did they spend all that money on?
I don't doubt you either, I'm just honestly interested in what they spend so much on because I don't see that here in Denmark, or anywhere else I look in the West to be honest, but it sounds like I missed something.
What I've seen from friends, families, previous girlfriends etc is that they love shopping, they'll go shopping with their friends for fun, they enjoy walking around malls buying stuff they'll probably never use, and I'm not necesarily saying that's a bad thing, but it can lead to bad habbits certainly, if you got the money to spend there's no problem for sure.

No I didn't mean to sound pretentious and pompous, although I suppose I didn't go out of my way to not sound so, I was talking about the original post, and simply meant that they shouldn't feel too bad about it because it seem very common among women to spend money on random stuff, I suppose I left too much between the lines.

This thread reminded me of a couple funny things. One of them being is sometimes people argue way too much on this site (for a forum that’s about animals and towns, lol, alright).

Also, retirement savings are going away for a lot of people because pensions are no longer going to be a thing for companies. If you really want to be set for life once you retire, do what I’m doing and open up an IRA account. A lot of people don’t know to do that, but the more money you put into an account like that, the better you’ll be at retirement.

The stupidity of others in general actually kind of makes me laugh at times (coming from a native Texan, ouch, haha).

I think men and women like to spend money equally, but on different things, so men might think women spend way more but only because they view those items as unecessary and vice versa.
My Father-in-law bought a new truck that they didn't need, and hadn't planned on getting (it was a spur of the moment purchase). He spent so much extra on things and accessories for his truck. It was all stuff they didn't need, but a lot of guys wouldn't view it as just spending money because it's a vehicle.
My husband loves to buy baseball caps, they're not expensive but he has a ton and he doesn't wear half of them, they just sit around. We're both big geeks and like to collect things so we buy limited edition game systems and figures and stuff. He likes to buy tech stuff we don't need, he wants another tv and I say we don't need one haha. He probably thinks I'm crazy for buying lipstick in a slightly different shade, but I think he's crazy for buying a new hat in a slightly different shade. Our perception of what the other person/gender is buying colors our idea of how much they spend. You're going to think someone spends way more than they do just because of how you view the items they're buying. Or even the way they shop. Maybe women like to shop at malls, and men like to shop online, so it appears that women spend more.

Dude, you weren't talking about black makeup. It was a topic involving race and you literally stated that black face wasn't racist. Now, you are here being sexists towards woman. You can't apply stereotypes towards a group because not everyone in that group applies to that stereotype.

The way you phrased your statement was sexist even if you didn't attend it to be sexist. Instead of coming up with half assed excuses that don't make your sexist statement justified, just apologize and realize what you said wasn't appropriate. Ok?

P.S. Your statement about the Chinese lady with spray tan has literally nothing to do with the fact that you said black face isn't racist.

i'm horrible! i love spending money! i love surrounding myself with things that i love! i love having a full tummy all the time and eating out! i love getting new pets and spoiling my pets! i want to spoil the people i care about and be spoiled in return!

rip this thread

i forgot to post this in my first reply but. its easy to save money when you don't have any.

I am honestly better at saving money than I used to be. Currently, I am very good at it.

When it comes to food, I can save, but when it comes to things I like(model cars and video games), I splurge. Though I’ve been saving more since we’ll be having a trip to Japan this December.

Oof I have like 5$ in my bank account... usually spend money on food/clothes but I'm trying to save up to pay for some of college/get a new phone sometime this year

I'm actually really good at money management, but since my dad constantly borrows from me and never pays me back, I'm pretty much always broke.

i'm a miser lmao. or more like i dont waste money on things i could live without.

that being said i do spend money on leisurely stuff. although mostly just on food and beer tbh.

I'm pretty okay on money management, but my parents always seem to borrow from me and sometimes I forget to write it down how much they owe so I always have less than what I'm actually supposed to have.
But one thing is, I'm terrible at earning money but great at keeping it.
I guess it's because that whole 'if you want something you need to save up for it' mentality sort of stuck with me. I also implemented a quota so I make sure I don't go under a certain amount. It's pretty much kept me on my toes.

I just spent like $10 on a TF2 weapon, so not great. But I only waste my extra money.

I'm completely awful at it. As soon as I get money it's gone in minutes; it's one of the things I'm trying to be more mature about
