How many new villagers do you think they will add?

New Leaf added around 100 new villagers and 2 new species. Since there is already hundreds of villagers, do you still think NH will have a bunch of new villagers? Would you rather have new villagers or have everyone return from all the games?

I honestly hope that they add at least 50 new villagers. I really want to experience the game fresh with some new and familiar faces.

they've already shown a few new npcs so hopefully they'll show some new actual villagers soon. something tells me they won't add 100 again but i do hope for at least a new species.

Well we've seen some new villagers on the stickers for the switch that got released a while ago, and I'd be kind of surprised if they didn't add more new special and resident villagers than just the ones they showed. So they'll probably add new villagers, maybe like 30 more than in NL? I kind of want it to be that since you have 2 islanders at the beginning, that you get one newly added villager on your island and one villager from previous games.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they don't add many. I'm more invested in them adding new personalities, more potential dialog lines, and ideally, special dialog specific to the villager or species. That would actually extend the playtime life of the game for me.

I believe they have many more to give us, but that won't be until a biiig update with new personality types. They may also hold back some previous characters from e+ due to the fact that they will be more suited to the new personality types. same the dialogue in new leaf got so repetitive and boring really quick, i hope they do more to make each villager unique instead of making every single jock villager say the exact same things to me

It's been confirmed that no new personalities will be added in NH as NL was the first to add 2 new personality types (Uchi, Smug) since the GC game (Snooty, Normal, Peppy, Cranky, Lazy and Jock) unless you mean personalities like more depth in the current types, i can see it being fixed since the switch is pretty with file sizes

I feel like they won’t be adding too many new villagers this time around. I feel like they’re going to add all of the villagers from New Leaf back, along with some of the animals from the older games that have been coming back lately (Vivian, Ketchup, Snooty, so on), and then maybe like 20-30 brand new villagers. I wouldn’t be opposed to a lot of new animals, but I just don’t feel like there are going to be that many.

Maybe one from each species. I'd honestly rather them just bring back all the ones from the N64/GC era that didn't make it back in New Leaf. Also please, PLEASE let the Sanrio villagers return, I love them all.

i would be okay with just having all previous villagers (maybe even the cut ones?) return but if they were to give us brand new villagers i'd say a few dozen would be enough for me. we don't need another pokemon drama situation on our hands. if we do get many new villagers i feelt like a small chunk of them will come in the form of collaboration/crossovers like with sanrio and other nintendo properties. or a "welcome amiibo" style update down the line.

though i do feel like we will see at least one new villager species...

I wouldn't be able to answer that, but a reason possibly is that octopuses in the main games are seen as enemies of the squids, this was even the same in splatoon 2, the octo expansion in which you play as agent 8, if you finished it, you could play as them (i mean yeah, they are shown as fans of the sisters, so they could have done it and made them green and pink octopuses but decided not to)

Oh, I'm fully aware this wasn't a possibility, I remember reading about it which is why after that I knew it would be possible for an update and to bring characters back like they did in NL. There are some characters which would suit a different personality type. The exciting thing is what will the types be and how many? Only two like in NL or four? ₍ᐢ⸝⸝› ̫ ‹⸝⸝ᐢ₎
