As we all may know, New Horizons is on its way and I'm worried. After 2016, it seems like ACNL has died off, and AC on Nintendo Switch is a format that I already see troubling for me (Big screen, larger-than-3ds-console in my tiny hands, etc.) and I love the ACNL format, and only had the game since 2017. It's gonna be hard to find new creators for QR content, friends, etc. so I want to see how many feel the same as I do? I feel like I'm gonna be the only one playing ACNL one day :(

There is nothing more exciting to go back to playing Animal Crossing on a big television screen. It started off on the GameCube and the pixelated, awkward tiny screens of portable Nintendo consoles never really did justice to the wholesome world of Animal Crossing ever since. I'm sorry. I'm on the opposite side on this one.

I'm gonna be going dual on NL and NH. I was toying with the idea of remaking my main NL town for the new mainline entry, but the deserted island just doesn't vibe with Bunifrey. And that town is way too important to me to just let it fade away. So no matter what happens with New Horizons, I will always make time for my gaming baby.

Well, it's probable it'll be a while before I even get a switch, let alone NH |D So I'll definitely stick with New Leaf a while longer, and I don't imagine I'll fall out of it 100% entirely- it might be fun to put down for a while, and come back to it with fresh eyes. I doubt NH is going to have every single thing that made me love NL, so it's something to come back to when I want that experience ^^

I get what you mean. I played ACCF for a bit and it didn't feel right for me. I like touching the screen and seeing it up close (i have exceptionally bad eye sight) but maybe this game will change my mind, since I like the features it offers like skin tone and outdoor furniture.

I have no plan to abandon New Leaf. I have grown attached to my town of Fireleaf, and would therefore like to see it developed further. I still play Gamecube after all these years, so I won't be leaving New Leaf anytime soon.

I'm probably going to let my New Leaf town rot, even if it was the most nostalgic anticipated game I have ever waited for. I mean, I already finished up my town, and i'm yearning to something new.

Besides, I still have my City Folk town, and since 2014, I have abandoned it. I don't even know what it'll look like, but I have every single collectible in that game. I don't look forward to continue working on it, as I really see no point in continuing a game where online activity is scarce.

Due to how long I've played New Leaf, I'm thinking on letting it retire. It is a very special title to me, and so I will always love it, but I do find myself being bored more now that I have done almost all that I've wanted. I've fully expanded my house, upgraded the train station, finished the shops, got perfect town, and even got all of my dreamies and landscaped completely. Now when I play, I find myself not doing anything, so I'm taking a break and waiting for New Horizons.

It's been a great run, and I'm glad people will still be dedicated to keeping up with their towns!

I do not see myself letting go of new leaf. There’s still so much to be done. I am a little sad about the things you meantioned as well. Many people are going to be switching over, as unfortunate as that may be for those of us who will continue playing new leaf.

To be honest, the fresh activity and hype surrounding online play and the new games is what leaves a lot of fond memories and nostalgia for me, so I am looking forward to that aspect. We have to keep in mind that the E3 Trailers are vague as to not spoil more than the anticipated features of the game. All the animal crossing games hold a fond place in my heart, but something about ACCF (the only large console game) struck a chord with me. As long as it stays as peaceful and adorable, ill stick around. I am worried about the soundtrack tho.

I would like to think that I'll keep goung with my NL towns but I think I'll eventually become too busy to take care of three games and just stick with the newer game

I abandond new leaf a loooong time ago. I just don't care anymore. I want a fresh and new game. I have so many other games to play... new leaf isn't one of them anymore.

You're probably not going to be the only one for similar reasons, besides the fact that there are plenty of people who probably just can't afford to buy a new console and games, but I'll probably be moving on, except for coming back every once in a while for nostalgia. But I'm thinking New Horizons might also bring people back to the forums, who might pick up NL again.

I have 4 NL towns.

Moriyo is about 80% finished, and I want to finish it before I get NH. Treehut is maybe 40% finished. Luminosa, 10%??? Townie I have barely even begun on. I've worked way too hard on Moriyo to just abandon it, and I still have 3 other towns not even 50% done yet. Moriyo Village is my pride and joy, much more than my original New Town. I don't see myself stop playing the games. The Nintendo 3DS is one of my fav consoles as well. Plus, it's quick to start up and shut off, making squeezing in a half hour play time before work easy.

I?ll still be sticking with NL too! I have a lot left to do in my town and still love the game a lot so I see no reason to stop tbh.

There's no way I'll ever play New Leaf seriously again. I might go back to it for the memories but to me there's no real reason to go back when we get this game.

I'm sticking with my NL town for now. I still have many things to work on since I started the game about a year ago. At the same time, I'll work to get a switch to transition to the new game eventually.

I'm sure once you get a Switch and play handheld mode you'll love it! The graphics are so much more smoother on the Switch touch screen compared to the 3DS. So you're not really missing any features from the 3DS (just might need to invest in a stylus or something), those features have only upgraded :)

I'm personally going to love seeing it on a larger screen, with detailed sounds like the wind and such, it's going to be so immersive!

I am probably going to abandon New Leaf as I abandoned it a good year ago or more. I play it on and off, but I've really been burnt out of the game so I'm looking forward to new horizons.

I won't be abandoning New Leaf completely, but I will probably be taking a lot of long breaks. Also, I have a strong feeling some features I enjoy in New Leaf are not going to be present in New Horizons, giving me reason to go back to my two New Leaf towns sometimes. Though I'm going to have a really hard time wanting to play it after the day comes that 3DS games no longer have access to the internet, whenever that may be.
