We all know music has power. Sometimes a sad song can make you cry, and a motivational song can obviously make you motivated. So the question remains, how much does music influence you?

I ask because it was once said by the Russians that someone could control the world with music, but I don?t think so. For example, I don?t particularly care for it, and I don?t usually let it influence me.

What about you?

Typically it just depends on the song's subject or what it reminds me of. There's a ringtone that reminds me of Cassie Sullivan from The 5th Wave book series and it just makes me so upset for some reason. I don't even know why it reminds me of her. If the subject is about suicide or reminds me of the death of someone I loved or heard about that I felt incredible empathy and sympathy towards, it dampens my mood.
Rockabilly music pumps me up (Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley & His Comets, etc). Classic rock n roll gets me pumped, too; Led Zeppelin, for instance.

As far as emotions go with music, it just depends if I'm already sad or am remembered of something or someone when listening to the song. But generally even if it's a sad song, it doesn't effect me. However, with any music that I like, it energizes me instead. That could be an effect from listening to instrumental music to rock music.

It's pretty intense for me. Not quite as much so as TV shows do, but affirmations are important to me, and using the right music can be like an ultra intense affirmation. When I was preparing myself to come out of the closet, I spent a lot of time listening to empowering anthems by LGBT musicians for a few weeks, and it really helped me feel like I could do it.

Keeps me alive!! Sounds like just an emo kid thing but it's true. I'm guilty of having different playlists for different moods :v

Music has a lot of influence in my life. I've noticed if I listen to sad music while I am sad, it gets even worse. But I think that is normal for just about everyone. I have to learn to NOT do that, hahaha.

Music influences me a l o t. Whenever I'm going through a not so great time, I usually get inspired to keep going or even to get out of the bad time from the music I listen to.

Too much some might say. But yeah might have saved me once or twice as well.

it gets my blood pumping and my creativity high. i draw while listening to upbeat music and i'm happier with the result, and it helps when i jog!! it just makes me happy in some weird way, since i really like depressing music lmao. it makes me feel less alone too...? and it got me into playing the piano which is a stress reliever even though im super unmotivated to play it anymore :'D

yeah a lot. its one of the only things that keeps me going, as edgy as that sounds

Often, heavy metal music gets me hyped up dubstep makes me happy. I remember one time while listening to some motivational music it helped me finish me homework for school... So yeah.

i used to not care a smidgen about music
and then i took ap us history
which gave us stupid long study guides on which i would procrastinate hardcore and then have 6 hours of homework to do the night before the test
so then i became acquainted with eminem
and that progressed and my tastes became significantly less offensive, so now i mostly like what my dad liked (hoobastank, three days grace, daughtry, etc.)
i would definitely say music is powerful

Music influences me a lot, from what I wear, my makeup and how I dye/style my hair. If feeling low, music can make me feel a lot worse and can also make me happy c:
