How to make avatar a gif?

Hi! I just bought the "animated avatar" feature in the shop. I found a gif I liked and uploaded it as my avatar, but it sits still. Would anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

how large is the image in question? since the forum software can't resize and keep the image animated at the same time

Hmm, I think it's 500 x 500, 1.93 mb. Would I have to resize the gif?

yeah, it'd need to be 100x100 (or 100x150 if you combine with the avatar width extension)

just google gif resize, there's a ton of in-browser options available to do this for you (though you may need to be on an actual computer for this)

Edit: ah wow can't believe I missed the print beneath the editor. Would that fix it?
