So you're watching a really sad movie and, when a tragic event happens, you start tearing up. Your friend, who's watching the film with you, sees you and says, "Why are you crying? It's only fiction, you know."

Would you:

A) Realise that they have a point, so you stop crying
B) Ignore them because you know that they can't emphasise with the character as well as you can

Just curious :)

I don't cry at films, so I can't relate but if I did I would go with option B.

I would pick B and assume there a reason behind this thread beside curiosity.

Is there an option C where you stop being friends with them? Because that's what I'd do. I could never be friends with anyone who didn't appreciate the emotional power of fiction.

Yep I definitely agree with you there!

yeah I got teased today for being emotional over A Silent Voice :/

I don't cry over movies, I'm usually the friend who says "why are you crying wkdkwojewo". but since this is an IF question then I'd go with B because if I start crying then the movie must be really sad

Option B. Fiction or not, if I can relate even the slightest, if I cry I cry. Plus I'm a bit of a crybaby, so tends to happen. But I tend to cover it up.

I'd stop crying and immediately remember how much I dislike it when someone says that to me. But I think B would suit me more.

B ! Doesn't matter if anyone points it out- I will not stop crying, haha

I don't cry. I've been through years without crying. Though, I do cry tears of joy when i'm laughing so I do water my eyes out.

I can't really choose between A and B. So i'll make my own, C: Ignore them and continue watching the movie.

Option B. I honestly don't care what other people will say even if it's a friend. There's a big chance that I won't take that seriously though and just brush it off.

b and i would probably get angry at them lol and rant about how good the character is

I cried during Stephen King's 'Christine'.

When that poor Plymouth was crushed.

Saddest thing I've ever seen.
