stocks are normalizing in the Philippines (like more reputable stores have stocks again) but it's def more expensive than before lockdown/quarantine started and i don't think it's gonna fall back to the original retail price anytime soon. i've seen a trend to where stores sell it bundled with labo kits so they charge more urgh & they won't sell you just the unit on its own
During lockdown in my country, both the normal switch and switch lites were very limited and the ones you can buy online where from resellers and they jacked up the prices that it was ridiculous how expensive they were selling them.
Nowadays I think the prices are going back to normal and there’s no shortage of switch consoles anymore as gaming stores are open and back in operation now.
The only "brick and mortar", physical stores that I have been inside since the pandemic started are the liquor store, and the local quick-mart...which obviously don't sell video games. So...I can't really say whether places like Walmart or Game Stop have Switch consoles or not. I'm going to guess that they probably don't. I just checked Amazon, and they say "only 7 left". So...yeah, I think the shortage is still very real. And it will probably continue to be a major problem as we head into the holiday season. Gonna be a strange "gift-giving season" for sure...
Hi there
Its kinda hard to find switch here in brazil on stores.
Online shopping is easy to find but recently prices are outrageos maybe bevause the pamdemics
In the UK, we had none really available since before Christmas, and now that we do they're disgustingly expensive. Real shame on the companies over here
When I bought mine it was during lockdown and the switch were all sold out and within a few days certain colours of the lite started selling out. I wanted a pink one but all that was left was yellow...I'm attached to it now though . The shop I got mine from is still struggling to get stock in.
When I bought mine in April it was pretty much sold out everywhere. I actually had to get the lite because they didn't have any regular ones of any kind. Since then I haven't seen anywhere online to a huge restock, but I haven't checked any of the local stores! My guess is that they're probably ramping up production now for the holiday rush in the fall/winter!
Lite are easier find here, was in Gamestop otherday they did have like two pre owned ones. But Walmart here in town is sold out and limiting it per one per family.
Still consistently sold out of Switch consoles at work, we had sizeable shipment a few weeks ago but it barely lasted an hour before they all got scooped up.
Oy I know it’s like one restock of lites for every two weeks or so but dang it since I made up my mind I know imma be impatient (though I’m still going to buy it at a reasonable price)
Pretty terrible in my opinion, at least if you're looking for a regular Switch. Gamestop here in my area doesn't have any regular Switches for months now, the one shop which always had them also just removed them from their online shop list a few days ago and in general, it's easier to get a Switch Lite at the moment, although they also became a bit more expensive now (before the Corona madness, the prices were quite acceptable, now they want ~15-25€ more). And if someone actually sells a regular Switch, then for a price which is just absolutely ridiculous. Saw the other day a shop who offered the ACNH Switch for 450€, like come on...
Seems like it's really bad. I'm not actively looking though since I have one. I'm sure COVID is playing its role in all of this too. I'm not sure how they plan to meet demand for the holidays, but chances are the shortage will be even worse around then if this keeps up.
Both of the normal switch and switch lite are completely sold out if you dont count second hand, but even then its been racked up, for example a new lite in a big chain shop is £200 and has been sold out for weeks, while majority of stores i see selling 2nd hand lites are also selling £200+ and i haven't seen a normal switch drop under £350+ if you can even find one at this point
