So back in the very beginning, I used DM a few times and lost big every time. I know there are tips and tricks, but they seemed like such a hassle and I’ve just not been willing to mess with it. The main reason this is so is because now that I’ve been playing 3 years i pretty much have everything in game and millions in the bank. I have just never seen the need to buy turnips and it didn’t appear to affect my game play at all. Is there anything I am potentially missing by not buying turnips?

I've never used her either, lol. I didn't even know she existed until I saw someone online use her.
lol, good to know I’m not the only one. I know so many people who swear by buying turnips, but I worked painlessly and got black tulips and then just continued to create gold roses over time along with my other money making activities. I now have a couple hundred gold roses in a garden and if I need money I just pick some flowers! That’s of course in addition to the money tree. Now that I pretty much own everything I don’t really have money going out.

Oh I never thought about using hybrids for making money! I just sold fish, and bugs haha.
that’s actually how I made a lot of money in the beginning. I was obsessed with deep sea diving, lol!

I've never played ACNH (well, in depth anyway, just a bit on a friends switch yonks ago) so I'm talking about Joan from ACNL, but personally I never really got the point? It's pretty easy to make bells in other ways that won't make you stressed or worried about turnip prices, and the appeal was just never there for me. I bought the turnips once and forgot about them, and they rotted which was just annoying.

I buy bells from shops here since I’m never awake when she is here and I found it pretty stressful and not fun when I did try doing it. I may try again once I get back to working on my second island, but most likely not

Yeah I never got into the whole “stalk market” thing. I only used it to attract ants lol. Daisy Mae is cute, but needs a tissue.
I've bought turnips before, it's more fun if you have friends who are checking their prices too. It was great when the game first came out, because everyone was sharing their prices. I don't remember to check mine enough to be able to get a good price consistently on my own, so before NH I never bothered.

I'm working toward my 10m bells for Nook Miles then I'm planning to stop buying turnips for a long time. The time Daisy Mae appears is inconvenient for me and so is having to seek out someone to arrange turnip sales with. I already have plenty of bells, and there are other more convenient ways to earn good amounts of bells in the game.

I used Daisy Mae a few times to earn the bells to pay off the remainder of my house loan as well as savings so I can buy things comfortably. I also wanted to get the recipes from her! Now I chat with her if I run into her since she's so cute, but I don't really buy anymore.

I'm not someone who enjoys gambling and, while I know there are ways you can figure out your weekly turnip prices online, I can't be bothered to do so. As such, I generally never really buy turnips in Animal Crossing games unless I need some rotten ones to catch some insect.
That said, back when the game launched, I had a few friends who also got the game and played during that first year. One of my friends figured out how to get the best gains out of the Stalk Market so, when he knew he had a good price that was going to happen during the week, he'd let me know and I'd buy turnips to sell on his island on that day. We both wanted that achievement, and that was the only way I was going to get it, so yeah. He and my other friend dropped the game due within the first year due to lack of things to really do together online compared to New Leaf, so I haven't dealt with turnips since 2020.

i bought turnips maybe once or twice from daisy mae and the same from joan in acnl. i just have never understood the concept and i always would forget to sell them when i was supposed to so they would just rot.

I don't interact with Daisy Mae, I never really cared about turnips anyway. I only got a turnip once to attract ants I haven't already donated to the museum before.
