Lord of the Rings?
Spider Man/s?
Shrek?
A Series of Unfortunate Events (maybe not better than the book but damn good)?
Thank You For Smoking?
Batman/s?
The Power of One?

Those are all great movies based on books/comics. Lord of the Rings was such a success mainly because there was such passion from the director to the story. He captured every emotion needed for every scene small or not.

Harry Potter are terrible movies. They are there for the money it seems. If it weren't they would be faithful to the book, not the box office.
are you kidding! the series of unfortunate events movie sucked compared to the books. THey tried to make a good combination of the first three books, and they did horrible.
I thought the movie was fantastic.

Oddly enough when I see a movie I don't compare it to the book in quality because you just can't do that. I judge the movie on what makes it a movie.

even if you take the books out of the equation, it was still rather bad. the plot was very rushed, and it was overall, very bad.
