So some background info, I recently moved to a new apartment and got no furniture except for my bed frame (IKEA!! ^^)............. so I have been sleeping on yoga mats my boyfriend lent to me and pretty much do everything on this yoga mat (play ACNL, browse the forums and the web, etc). My body aches. T_T

Anyways, I need to buy a mattress. But I am confused. Which one did people have better experiences with: foam or spring? I know it depends on everyone and stuff but I would love to have people's opinions. I am ordering my furniture in a few days or so, so I'd like to know. ^^

I googled the difference and know about it (foam traps more heat for example) but it is always nice to get feedback and/or suggestions from other people.

Thank you. :D

Also memory foam is out of my budget LOL

Foam hurts my back but spring doesn't. I've been told it's because I'm still young but idk

I read foam is better for you because it molds itself with your body (added bonus is that if you sleep with your partner on a foam bed and they move around a lot, you won't be disturbed).

I slept with spring mattresses all my life and never slept on a foam one. Spring is okay but I'd like to know which is better. My body tends to ache a lot, idk from lack of sleep, stress, bad mattress, etc.

Ty for feedback c:

If it's possible maybe try going to a furniture store and test a few mattresses out and pick whatever seems best for you? Some foam beds seemed comfortable to me while others were uncomfortable. So I think it depends on the particular mattress as well.

I thought the same but I don't have time to commute an hour to Ikea. :p
I don't mind taking my chances haha but I'd like to get some feedback from others hehehe.

Ugh dang, that's the worst! D:

Anyway, I've had better experiences with foam beds. Spring beds can get super achey very fast. I've had one for almost a year and it sometimes feels like I slept on the floor smh.

I would recommend getting an air mattress for the meantime. Yoga mats can get super uncomfortable really fast. Air mattresses aren't great for long time use. I lasted on one a few weeks when I moved out until I got too tired of it. =v=

But like others said, going to furniture stores can help determine what kind of bed is most comfortable for you. Don't be afraid to lie down on the ones at stores, we're meant to try them out and there's no shame in that. XD Beds are something meant to be a longtime purchase for better health so don't skimp out. Ikea has beds as well so maybe that's an option? If you see a bed you like at stores, maybe order it online so you might get a better deal and some may come with delivery. Either way, good luck! ;v;

I accidentally voted for foam.. but i actually prefer spring because it's firmer, and if I want I can just put a padding over it. I'm pretty sure spring is cheaper too.

Thanks!

Oh man, that's a pretty far drive! No wonder, lol. I wouldn't bother with that either. x) Anyways, good luck on your decision! c:

Maybe try warehouses? Some places offer really good prices with new beds. I'd try Reddit or Yelp to get tips on where to find some in your area. :)

i've had spring mattresses all my life, and the one i have now is really good

but its all about personal preference

i've had spring mattresses all my life, but my parents got a fold-out bed from ikea for when my grandma stays over, and it had a foam mattress. it was super comfy, i've slept on it for like a week at a time and it's been great! there was actually a time when my old mattress gave way and it was giving me really bad back pain, and i slept on the sofa bed until i got a new mattress and it fixed me right up!

i know it's a long commute but tbh i think it's definitely worth it to check them out before you buy. also i would probably try and get the best one you can afford, because you're going to be sleeping on it for a long time, so you want to make sure it's good quality.

i've also heard reeeeally good things about these mattresses - they have a 100 night trial so you can send it back if you don't love it, and they're supposed to be pretty affordable! https://casper.com/

good luck!!

personally i prefer spring mattresses because i feel like im falling into the foam and it makes me quite uncomfortable, but if you like the feeling of being wrapped in a super soft cushion then go for it.
though my sister had a spring bed with a thin foam top and it was super nice, so maybe if youre stuck you can work an in-between?

Hehe thank you. I am ordering my furniture soon so I can lay on a yoga mat a bit longer.

Unfortunately, I don't have a car so I'll have to use the subway/bus/streetcar to commute around. I'm getting most of my furniture from Ikea and the closest one is a hour away :(

I thought spring was cheaper but I found a foam one on Ikea cheaper than this spring one

I would but commute is a huge problem T_T

You could try plush mattresses? It's kinda in the middle of both.

Never heard of them! I'll take a loo, ty c:
