If you could have a second Island

If I had a second island, I'd have it themed this time, perhaps based off a series I love. But unless they come up with a seriously awesome Switch console that makes me want to buy a second one, I won't be getting it.

If I had a second island, I'd keep it completely natural, no terraforming. I love terraforming but I've definitely fallen down the rabbit hole of spending hours trying to make my island perfect, only to flatten it, rebuild, and still not like what I've created. There's something really relaxing about not changing the structure of my island and working with it rather than against it.

The only reason why I have a second island is three things. One to get different furniture variants, Two it makes it easier to find villagers from the Start, and Three you have different map layouts that can really challenge your mind with ideas.

I would love it if we could have multiple islands, I have so many ideas for themed islands that I never get to act on because I don't want to lose all my progress. Always wanted to do a food theme or a cryptid themed island

Recently I've been a bit tempted to get a switch lite for the sole purpose of having a second island. However, cannot quite justify the purchase! But it has had me thinking about the possibilities of a second island. I've seen videos recently of a "challenge" where people don't do any terraforming at all. It reminds me of New Leaf, and I think it would be fun and relaxing to play the game that way! I also think that making an island based on the original club penguin would be so much fun.

What would you do if you were able to have a second island? Would you make it set to the opposite hemisphere your current island is? What kind of theme would you create on it? Or would you not want one at all?
I do have a Switch Lite with a second island on it. I have never made it the opposite hemisphere, but that is a great idea! I don't really do themes on my islands - - I just go with the flow, and let the island pull me in whatever direction seems appealing. Usually that involves a lot of terraforming. I did flatten my second island once. But, I like to re-start my islands every few months so it's not flattened right now. I love the beginning parts of the game, where we have a new island to explore and so much to accomplish.

I have a second island! Not doing any terraforming on it isn't really fun despite the fact that I don't like terraforming that much- without it you will quickly discover there is nothing else to do. Not enough content. I don't think it is worth the price of a second switch (I didn't buy mine for a second island btw, I got it because multiple people use the other one). I am from the southern hemisphere so I made my second a northern hemisphere island, not very interesting or different. This is just me though. The one thing I like about having two islands is just being able to have more villagers. I don't spend much time on either island but when I do, its cool having one with my favourites and the other with whoever decides to show up- end up with new favourites.

I'm getting a second switch on Friday to make themed islands with! I'm so attached to my main island that I could never restart it but there are themes I'm anxious to try out - I'll periodically reset my second game when I finish an island so I can try out themes as well as keep my OG island! I think I'm going to do farmcore first and then after that I'm going to do what I've dubbed as "spacecore"

i have a second island, same hemisphere and themed. both of my islands are themed, but i dont really play my first island because my brother take over it. lol. my current island (my own and very only) have springcore vibes, i was thinking of doing both european and spring at the same time, but in the end i just want a springcore. (if you want to know my old island have city vibes)

Ooh that is exciting! I'm in the same boat -- there are so many fun ideas to try out for islands, but I don't want to lose my main one. Farmcore islands are always adorable, and "spacecore" sounds so cool! I visited a dream address recently that is completely flat and is set up like the moon (space suits are of course a must.) Something like that would seem super challenging but fun to work on!

I have a second switch and island. I love having them in different hemispheres. It will be weird not having snow on my southern island in December. I like building snowman but thought I would get tired of it faster if I had to build snowman on both islands at the same time.
My first island isn’t really themed but I keep thinking of having an all penguin island. I would just have to decide on letting go of my wolves. It would be easier if we could have the option for more villagers instead of playable characters.
My second island is a farm/garden island, it will be awhile before I decide on my villagers.

I have recently been thinking about a third island if a miracle happens and we can have two islands on one switch.

Hey All! I've actually just ordered a second switch for the sole purpose of having a second island - I've flattened my main island 3 times now and it's so much work. I'm now halfway through a new build that I'm not enjoying at all.

Does anyone know if you need to create a new Nintendo Online account to be able to start a second island, or can you use the existing account and still start a new island on a new switch?

Hope that makes sense :)

I have two islands and I like having the flexibility to keep my main island (and island rep with all her DIYs) and play more freely on the 2nd island. I did try doing the "no terraforming" thing the last time I reset but I did terraform a little to place some bridges and inclines that otherwise would have looked awkward or not been possible.

Even with two islands, I'm starting to get a little bored with the game. Today however, I'm searching for a new villager on mystery islands and trying to find one whose house is a log cabin to fit my theme. That sort of thing keeps me a bit busy, just making up new challenges to occupy time and keep the game interesting. I'm also enjoying planning autumn decorations and getting ready for Halloween.

If you do get a second Switch and then don't use it, you could always sell it or give it to a friend or family member who might enjoy it.

Depends on what you want to do with your second island. If you plan to visit your first island with your second island character you will need a different profile. I have two Nintendo accounts one for each island so I can swap villagers and items between the two islands.

If I had a second island it would basically be a trash island used for breeding flowers and obtaining resources. I love flowers, but they spread way too quickly. I would just fence them all in on my primary island, but I still want some hybrids. So...having a second island would be perfect for just letting them grow everywhere and then taking the ones I actually want back to my other island.

One thing to note: If you use the same Nintendo Online profile for both Switches, you might be unable to use Island Backup or Nook Link on the second island without overriding the first.
