If you could remove a character from a video game, who would it be?

Ever played a game and there's just a single, or couple of characters you don't like. But you enjoy the rest of the game. If you could, who would you remove?

For me, might not surprise some people, because I don't exactly like the game. But Kairi, Namine, and Xion from Kingdom Hearts. Sorry if you like them, but I don't. Esspecially Xion and Namine.

Off the top of my head, probably Albedo in Genshin Impact. There's probably a better candidate out there, but he's the first that comes to mind. Mainly because his personality (or lack thereof) is just all about science and is the same reason why I don't like some anime that follow that trend such as Steins;Gate or Dr. Stone.

PJ Berri is a silly guy and he makes me laugh, but he doesn't really do much in PaRappa 1, so I wouldn't mind him not being in that game. (I wouldn't remove him from PaRappa 2 though, because he contributes more to the story.)

There aren’t a lot of games that I can think where I’d feel this way. If I do, I think the problem might be more the writing than the actual character. Making improvements than removing the character altogether would be what I’d prefer. But if that wasn’t an option, I think maybe Traveler and Paimon from Genshin. I know the story revolves around them, but the story without them would honestly still be good in my opinion. Their backgrounds do interest me a little like Traveler being a

, but tbh, I’m more interested in other characters than her and Paimon. If they were written differently, like both not given the special treatment, also not being so rude a lot of times, I’d like them more. I think in this case, editing them and their role would be better though than removing them completely. The whole thing of traveler finding their sibling honestly doesn’t interest me too much.

Some of the characters that aren’t part of the main story like Noelle, Bennett, I’d remove just because they both annoy me (doing their hangouts was a mistake).

I would definitely remove the uneeded Peach clones or unwanted new baby alts like baby Rosalina from Mario Kart or convert the Cat Peach into alt. Costumes (still definitely remove Pink-Gold Peach and Peachette though) and replace the slots with the kongs or just different characters from the Mario or DK series like Dixie Kong, King K. Rool, Baby DK (I admit, he's the most unique baby character in the entire series), Monty Mole, E. Gadd, and Tiny Kong (since she appears in Diddy Kong racing DS).

As for other games I played (or used to play) like Genshin, I would remove Paimon completely from the game and completely rewrite the traveler to interact with the world more. Maybe rewrite some characters to have some sort of animosity towards the traveler.

Or most rivals in Pokemon series, some of them deserved a rewrite or have extra side characters cut from the main part of the game.

"Who even likes them?" You've actually made this precise same post in the past before word for word and I replied to it and several others as well stating a couple of us do enjoy the Koopalings, are you going to keep pretending everyone on planet earth hates them and nobody likes them?

Lemmy has always been my main in Mario Kart and always will be and according to this thread nine other people besides myself voted they main the Koopalings in the poll so no, please do not delete my and the nine other people who voted main in Mario Kart thank you.

Anyways to answer the question, I cannot think of any video game characters I would like to delete because while there are a couple of video game characters I hate all of them are somewhat important to the game so I would not suggest deleting important elements to the game even if I do not like them.

I don't know about deleting, but I would've rather not had the avatars for Pikmin 4 and had a real character that spoke lines instead. Like using Olimar again. I feel like he was overdue for having a game of his own again. I didn't care for the avatars. They didn't have any personality because they couldn't. They were supposed to be an extension of us, but they didn't have lines or really interact a lot from what I recall.

I think an avatar character in a Pikmin series would work if Pikmin either has a spinoff series about rescuing other explorers or a Pikmin care game kind of similar to the Chao garden from Sonic Adventure 2. Or it could be similar to Xenoblade Chronicles X where it is actually chronologically separate from other Pikmin titles.

Credit where its due but at least it somewhat saved Pikmin from total obscurity just like Fire Emblem with Awakening.

Despite Bowser being my favorite video game character, I don't like the Koopalings and find their inclusion to often feel a lot like needless character glut. They're barely a step up from all the various baby versions of existing characters IMO. I don't really like Bowser Jr. either, but he fills their niche without having to be seven different character models. I don't say this to attack any fans, and Miyamoto clearly doesn't agree with me, so I doubt they'll actually be removed from games any time soon.

Because I haven't made enough enemies yet, I also want to remove Krile from FF14. I'm already not really a fan of the game's story and main cast of Scion characters, but there's yet to be a moment where I could ever take this character seriously while she's toddling around in her out of place FF3 cosplay. It's just too whimsical/eccentric of a look for somebody who's just supposed to be a serious scholar. She doesn't add anything new to the party, being yet another quippy intelectual from Sharlayan, and I just don't find her supercilious snark endearing. (Sorry Krile fans, but at least you can take solace in the fact that she's also definitely not going anywhere)
