• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

If you were a game developer, what would you have included in New Leaf?

Be able to interact with things whilst sitting. Wouldn't be hard to code, and would open up a lot of things

Here's some of my ideas:

An Arcade ran by a nerdy, gaming girl meerkat.

It would host games akin to the Game and Watch series, only Animal Crossing-ized. You can also win tickets/tokens/whatever to exchange for various prizes. The owner may also break the fourth wall every so often by saying the name of a random game in your library.

Owner: Hey, -NAME-? You look tired. You been playing a lotta -GAME-, had ya?

Face Paint

Ran by Harriet's niece, she can put designs on your face for a small sum of bells. However, if it's raining (and you don't have a umbrella equipped), or you go diving, the paint washes off.

Seeing the humans you're not playing as currently

It would add a nice touch, besides seeing them sleeping in their beds. They wouldn't have much interaction, besides "Hiya! Nice to see ya!", or what you put in. (Like the "I'm not home" message you can give your Gyroid in Population.) They would usually be in their houses, or in the museum.

More varied accessories, like bracelets or wristbands

While it IS sorta possible now, with the new pattern designs, I thought it would make a nice touch.

The ability to change the Background Music

Everyone and their Population Growing counterparts wants this in... But it would be enhanced. For example, say you want the 1pm song in Population, but you dislike the 2pm music. Well, you can change the 2pm music for the Wild/City version, or the New Leaf version!

If I can think up more, I'll let you guys know!

More than 1 save file. It really, really irritates me when handheld games only have 1 save file. Feels like there's no excuse for that anymore, since they could make saves be on the SD card.

I just get tired of buying multiple copies of the same game so both me and my husband can play. I know we can both have characters in the same town in AC, but that's not as fun as having your own town.

I'd make sure every event had unique gameplay mechanics. (I suppose we haven't seen them all yet, so there's no telling if it's already in there!) I just don't want any holidays where all you do is visit the square, talk to Isabelle and get an item...then you are done. >_< Those are the worst holidays. I'd almost rather not have the holiday if it's going to be that lazy. At least I could do the other stuff that is closed on holidays that way.

A "doorbell mode"

When you have your gate closed, there is no way for your friend to see your town when they connect to the internet. However, when your gate is open there are a few features of the game that are unacceptable, making it not ideal to always have your gate open. With the doorbell mode, the 3DS could use the already implemented always-online friend roster to allow your friends to "ring your doorbell" which would essentially be a request for you to open your gate.

That and sending letters to other players via wifi.

I would have had a playground you could build as a community project. Also, MORE ROOM IN POCKETS! Or maybe a separate bug/fish storage?

I've always wanted this. Being the only human in my town always irked me. To have my other human characters walking around with the simple animal AI and whatnot would make my dream AC
